My superpower that turns everything chinese aka I made them into the four auspicious beast because! Why not! Also ignore how grian looks like an npc compared to the others, that's because I hate him! 😊
Anyway i do have a half baked plot about them! Read it if you want to 😁
For thousands of years, the four auspicious beast has protected humans and ruled over them according to their cardinal dominions
Vermilion bird: south
White tiger: west
Azure dragon: east
Black tortoise: north
Sometimes they work together to fend off monsters, othertimes they go on wars with each other. There will always be humans dead from the aftermath.
Seeing this, they finally settle on a peace agreement and worked together to seal every monsters and then vow to never use their powers again so no other catastrophic event will happen.
The four beasts takes on different apporaches to their "retirements"
Gem decides to become a military general and teaches her people how to fight and defend. Just because an era of peace is upon them, doesn't mean that they will always be safe. Even though she cannot protect them as the azure dragon, she can still do so as a human. The east is now a very guarded place with powerful military prowess thanks to her.
Pearl became a priestess that lives in the mountains. She lives in solitude, but still opens the door for her former subjects who came to ask her for guidance. The north is small, but wise.
Scar essentially heard the word "retirement" and said "about freaking timeee 😌". He spends his days literally as a greedy house cat being pampered by the royal palace. This guy is literally a bum who gets the best food, entertainment, toys, beds, literally everything he asks is provided to him and he does absolutely NOTHING! He's not even ruling or giving advice or anything, those are taken care of by the emperor and the other relevant boring politic guys (he doesn't even know or care who they are, they're all servants in his eyes), he just lazily rolls around in the sunlight all day, he's literally just a spoiled cat. Everyone loves him 😭
Grian is a farmer. Yepppp. He's overworked, underpaid, he hates everything. All the other 3 guys gets recognized and honored by their dominions in some ways, not Grian. To be fairrr these people dont even know he's the vermilion bird, everyone is under the assumption that the vermilion bird is currently resting in the volcanoes. And that was true... for like a hundred years ago. Grian's done with his rest, and goes back to civillization, but when he came back, nobody believes him when he says he's the vermilion bird 😭 he just looks too pathetic 😭 and its not like he can prove it either with the no power rule, so now he's stuck having to work odd jobs to get paid somehow 😭 He eats stew everyday and he's like.... well! I guess this is my life now! You gotta do what you gotta do! 💔
This is where the plot comes in where main character jimmy (i just love him), who had always had these strange premonition powers gets a prophecy about the future where the seal keeping the monsters trapped breaks. So now he's on a quest to get the band back together (im laughing at him finding grian miserably planting a potato looking like a sad victorian child and he's like... "mr. Vermilion bird??" And grian literally starts sobbing cuz someone finally believed him 😭😭😭😭).
Believe me, I know it's not the same as having someone to help you - but sometimes we have to make do. 🤎 So let's discuss some ways that you can be your own caregiver.
🐾 Future You
Think about a 'near future you' and how you can give them an extra boost. Maybe it's you when you get home in the evening, or a week in advance, either way, spoil them!
Some examples:
- "Future me would be so happy to have a clean kitchen to cook in later."
- "Let's lay our favourite pyjamas out so future me can get a comfortable night's sleep."
- "It's getting late, I should go to bed so future me has lots of energy tomorrow."
Showing yourself love by putting in a little bit of extra effort can really help with motivation! Really take on the role of a doting parent if you're able.
🐾 Inner Monologue
Similar to Future You, the goal here is to separate your stream of consciousness (the part of you that makes choices), and the part of you that isn't feeling in control. Speak kindly in your mind, like you would to a child. Console them, encourage them, even over the little things.
Some examples:
- "Oh dear, I know you're tired but we need to get a shower. Let's get it done quickly and then you can rest."
- "Look at you go, brushing your teeth! We're going to feel so much better once we're freshened up."
- "This work is hard, isn't it? After it's done, we'll do something nice and relaxing."
- "Almost done. You're being really brave."
🐾 Show Your Inner Child Your Life
What would they love about your life? Your hobbies, your friends, the fact you still like their favourite band? See your world through the eyes of a child who would idolise a grownup like you, who never stopped being fun.
🐾 Let Your Inner Child Plan Your Day
Let them choose your outfit, activities and meals. Whatever that little voice decides, that's what you'll do.
🐾 What Would A Toddler Need?
At our core, we aren't much more complicated than we were when we were little. When children are in bad moods, we don't hold a grudge against them, we consider what might be making them so fussy. We never really grow out of that, even the strongest, toughest people in our lives get hangry or overwhelmed. If we're feeling burnt out, grumpy, or on the verge of tears - it might be time to ask what a toddler would need. Sometimes the most intense emotions can be fixed with some quiet time or a snack.

Struggling to get something done? Make yourself a little reward chart and buy yourself stickers. Add prizes or rewards for milestones or streaks, and commit to treating yourself when you achieve them.
🐾 Making Time For Whimsy
I promise you it's good and important!! Plan adventures, arts and crafts, time with friends, movie nights, anything - and get excited! Always have something to look forward to if you can. If you look online, you're likely to find really fun events for cheap/free in your area, like pottery/painting classes and meet ups.
🐾 Other Suggestions:
- Plan to cook/order your favourite food when you know a day will be stressful
- Make a routine with yourself and stick to it. Maybe every Friday, you go for a walk or do a face mask and paint your nails!
- Be playful and gentle with others. Sometimes people just need to be reminded that it's okay to be silly and vulnerable.

anyone else feeling rather... annoyed at the way ppl have come to define and use queerplatonic and qprs? So many times I see ppl talk abt qprs saying they're "friendship but Deeper" or "a relationship strictly between friendship and romance" or "essentially romance lite/romance for aromantics" and like. A qpr definitely can be all that if the participants want that, but to say that this is THE definition of queerplatonic is actually going directly against the very goal for which the term was created. Queerplatonic was supposed to give us a word to be able to talk about relationships that don't fit neatly into the "romantic" and "platonic" boxes, whilst also deconstructing the relationship hierarchy and the idea that friendships are fundamentally lesser than romantic relationships. So can we please stop using qprs as a way to once again make friendships seem like a lesser form of relationship and to reinforce the relationship hierarchy? Please?
Afaik the original definition of a qpr was smth along the lines of "a relationship that doesn't fit the traditional boundaries of a friendship". By that definition? A loveless friendship would be a qpr. A "friendship" between two aplatonics would be a qpr. A friendship where they specifically feel less emotionally connected to one another than is expected of a "normal" friendship would be a qpr. Just like how queerness isn't fundamentally about love, queerplatonicism, i.e. queering the platonic, isn't fundamentally about "putting more love" into friendships. It can be, but it doesn't have to be.
