In certain parts of the world, burgandy and bronze blooded trolls (sheep and cattle) are raised as livestock for food. This practice, never popular in the western world, has fallen further out of favor with the rise of troll rights activism. Tavros was born on such a farm. Had he remained there, his horns would have been filed off, and he would have spent his short, miserable life in a pen too small to turn around in, eating food laced with chemicals to make him grow faster and larger than his body could handle, until he was eventually slaughtered and ground into chemically altered meat.
Fortunately for Tavros, his farm was targeted by activists, who had it shut down. He and other young trolls likely to be adopted, were sent to shelters in the city. There, Tavros was adopted by his owner, Mr. Zahhak. They’re still learning to get along with each other, but it’s already a lot better than where he came from, and Tavros is immensely grateful.
Tavros watched the window intently, trying not to let the warm sunlight on his fur lull him to sleep. He had an important job to do, after all. He had to guard the house until his master got home. It wouldn't do to be sleeping on the job. He yawned hugely, head dropping onto his paws. Okay. Maybe a little nap wouldn't hurt. The sun was so warm after all... It seemed like his eyes had only just closed when he heard the click of a car door closing. He jumped off the windowsill, hitting the carpet running, already chittering in excitement and bouncing every third step as he raced for the front door, reaching it just in time for a final leap as it opened, colliding with his owner's chest like a small furry cannon ball.
"Home!" He cheered, clinging, monkey like, to Nash's shirt, "Nash, home!"
