The number of women engaged in major US combat is growing and, currently, around 15% of US troops are female. How much more will this number increase in the next few years?

With equal opportunity and gender equality becoming increasingly present in the military's plans for a progressive and inclusive future, it is important for females to not only feel empowered to live on the cusp of monumental changes, but to embrace the opportunity to meet and exceed the standards of their male comrades, becoming forerunners and inspirational figures for aspiring female soldiers.
