it’s taken me years to become this soft. this gentle. and sometimes, in moments of anxiety, the old version of me arrives. she bursts through the door, she throws things around and causes chaos. but the only way to silence her, is to be kind to her. to take accountability, to acknowledge her mistakes without beating her up for them, to apologise without self loathing. sit with her, explain to her how that made you feel. you’ll find that she’ll very soon quieten down. the more accountability the quieter she becomes. the more self reflection the less often she visits. i am her, she is me. sometimes we co-exist. she is my inner child, i love her and i’m learning how to soften her visits. let’s be gentle. i’m trying. my apologies can only carry me so far.
