I know this doesn’t go with the theme of my blog, but I recently discovered a show called Anne With an E and quickly fell in love with it. There are 2 seasons and Netflix is deciding if they are going to make a season 3 or not. It all depends on how many people watch it. There is probably only another week or two before they make their decision, and for it to be renewed, more people need to watch it.
If you haven’t heard of it, it is based on Anne of Green Gables and takes place in the late 1800s. Normally I don’t really care for period dramas, but this show is different. It is one of the most wonderful shows I have seen in a very very long time and it would be a shame if it got cancelled just because not enough people know about it or give it a chance.
This is one of those shows that is so easy to fall in love with. Not only is the cinematography beautiful, but the characters are so well developed and the actors that play them are all incredibly talented.
This show effortlessly captures the general experience of childhood as well as troubles that near everyone can relate to. It tackles issues like racism, sexism, homophobia, abuse and bullying, just to name a couple. The friendships among all of the kids are real and so fun to watch, and there is also a slow burn romance between the main character, Anne, and a boy named Gilbert. Idk about you, but I’m always a sucker for things that will melt my heart.
I know this is a long post and 99% of people won’t care, but knowing a story you love so dearly could be cut short is a terrible feeling, and if just 1% sees this post and gives the show a try, it could save the show.
Also worth noting, if you do decide to watch the show (which I hope you do) don’t base your opinions solely off of the first episode. Things really pick up after the first episode, so push through and give it a fair chance. It’s one of the most underrated and heartwarming shows out there, and you won’t regret watching it.
