Itās been a while since Iāve been on here, let alone made a personal post, but here I am because I need to vent somewhere without worry of anyone I know seeing it and putting my job in danger. So I just got promoted to assistant manager. This week is my first week in the position. Today I almost lost my job because it took everything in me to not lose it on a customer. Weāre only allowing 10 people in my store at a time. And weāre requiring face masks. The company even gave us masks to hand out for FREE to people who donāt have them. So, the store has 10 people in it. Iām standing at the door letting customers who are trying to come in know it will be a few minutes, and they can come in as soon as we clear out. This guy tries coming in. Mind you, it says stop and wait for an employee to tell you itās ok to come in at multiple place by the enterance. He pays no attention to those signs, or me, and just walks right in. I tell him, weāre at compacity and itāll just be a few minute wait. He says, āIām meeting someone....ā I say, āok.....but weāre still at capacity and you have to wait till someone leavesā he throws his back and says āthis is fucking bullshitā, but he goes at waits outside. Someone leaves, so he comes up to me and says āNOW can I come in???ā In the most overly nice voice I say āyes now you may, but you need to put a mask onā he says, āNO I FUCKING DONTā and storms past me. At this point, Iām fuming and went to go after him, but a co worker stopped me because he knew I was going to cuss him out. My manager was on register and missed the whole interaction, but she told me I shouldāve told her and she wouldāve kicked him out. Iām not used being this high up in management, but even I had the power to kick him out, which I shouldāve done in the first place when he threw a fit about having to wait till the store cleared out. And remember how he said he was meeting a friend? Well the said friend comes in regularly, and always gives us trouble about wearing a mask. He told us he believes god gave him a good immune system and he wonāt get sick. He doesnāt understand itās about being considerate of other people. As a type one diabetic, Iām at high risk. I have family and friends who are also high risk. It blows my mind that people are so stubborn and rude about wearing a fucking mask. All day at work I have to run around handing out masks to people because they donāt bring them with them. Itās so fucking annoying. And this isnāt the first time Iāve gotten into it with customers about wearing one, but for whatever reason today really shook me up and got to me. I so badly want to be able to put these people in their place. So many people simply walk away and are nice when I tell them weāre requiring masks in store and they donāt want to wear one. Iām always nice and kind. So are my co workers. Yet weāre treated like villains by certain ignorant people for following our companyās rules. I canāt wait for all this to go away.
