V.F.A. stood for “Very Fine Adjusted” : Grand Seiko’s designation for watches regulated to an unusually high standard of precision. In 1969, the 61GS V.F.A. pursued mechanical accuracy to what Grand Seiko describes as “the farthest limit” of the time, achieving a stated rate of ±1 minute per month — a remarkable figure for a mechanical wristwatch.

What makes the V.F.A. compelling is not only the technical achievement, but the restraint around it. The faceted case, quiet dial, and severe geometry feel closer to industrial design than jewelry.
