just to be clear, the fact that music was nominated for a golden globe is absolutely disgusting. every single (adult) involved in that gross, ableist movie should be sickened by themselves.

for those of you who don't know, music (2021) is a movie being directed by sia about a nonverable autistic girl. not only does it not include any actually autistic people in the movie itself but it also only took advice from autism speaks which is looked at as a hate group by the majority of the autistic community. leaked scenes have also shown the movie glorifying prone restraints which are incredibly dangerous and have resulted in major injuries and even death to disabled people as recently as last year.

autistic people just like me have been incredibly outspoken about how harmful this movie is but the allistic have been mostly silent. we are already seeing reviews calling this movie 'inspiring' and important' and it's absolutely horrific! we need your help calling this out. please stand with us and call out this disgusting display of disrespect to autistic folks.

If you’re in the ‘I don’t comment because I don’t know what to say’ crowd, you don’t necessarily have to write a 10 page essay to make an author extra happy.  Seriously. Here’s some examples:  - I wish I could give this more kudos.  - I opened this on my [work computer/incognito browser/phone] just to give it more kudos. - asdjfalsdjf I love it?!!? - [under someone else’s long comment where they do a lovely job of explaining just why they think the story is great] ^This!  - [quote of a line you really liked] Ugh this is so good. - [Image or gif that clearly conveys approval] - How dare you make me have feelings. Attacking people who write fic that isn’t the fic you want to read won’t make them suddenly stop writing the fic they want and start writing the fic you want. 

They may stop writing in your fandom completely, and there won’t be more of the fic you want; just less fic overall.

Or, they may double down out of spite and write even more of the fic you don’t want, because fuck you, you entitled little goblin.

PSA - Archive of Our Own

Okay, I know that a good majority of us read fanfic. And AO3 is quite popular, I love that site.

I recently just came across a site on my laptop while I was looking some klance fics to read. I found one and clicked on the link which said it was an AO3 fanfic. Norton Security prevented me from accessing the site because it ‘may be impersonating AO3 to steal your personal or financial information’

If you find a link to a fanfic and it has ‘www.archiveofourown.com’ run for the hills. The true AO3 is .org not .com. It may seem obvious but it’s pretty easy to miss. Just letting all my fellow fanfic addicts out there know that there is a scammer.

I’m trying to tag all the fandoms I’m in so that those people are aware.

What kind of person impersonates a well known fanfic site to steal information. Such a heinous crime. I will admit, this person was pretty smart. All kinds of people read fanfics, especially teenagers. Just think of that and how easy it would be.

Please reblog to every fandom and if you find any other fanfic sites being impersonated please add them to this post. Some of us fanfic readers are close to being adults or are already adults, but there are still twelve year olds and younger who don’t pay attention to things they find on the internet.

If there’s anything my 3-ish years of writing and using the internet to promote that writing has taught me, it’s that literally every writer doubts their own work, every writer is convinced they’re the odd one out who is somehow shittier than everyone else, and every writer feels blocked and unable to write. At least, some of the time. 

And if you’re a fan of a writer, I implore you to tell them that you like their work, send them an ask, a message, post a comment, tell others who might be interested about them. It helps us so much, motivates us to write more, do more, learn more. 

Show some love to your local writers, alright? We’re people who have good days and bad days just like everyone else, and you telling a writer about how much you like their stuff is easily the difference between a good and a bad day for them.

Kudos to fanfiction writers for writing about all the trauma and emotional and mental turmoil that the original content creators dont acknowledge when putting characters through hell

Men love to say this about women after hurting them, in order to shift the blame and dismiss their feelings in one go. In reality, women are taught to hold our tongues and control ourselves quite literally from birth. We’re taught to put men’s needs and wants ahead of our own emotions regardless of the personal cost. Men are taught to do more or less whatever the fuck they want to women. Men take their emotions out on women while women are expected to shove theirs down.
