“as an artist/dj/promoter, i’m very conscious of the lack of representation for female artists within electronic music. acknowledging the problem isn’t enough though, and it requires the efforts of those in power to push towards fairer representation and greater visibility for marginalized artists when selecting tracks and booking artists. i’m very proud to present this mix comprised of entirely female and female-identified artists, to help shine the spotlight on their incredible talents. electronic music is not inherently gendered — even the noisy violent music in this mix, which is usually associated with masculine qualities, can also be indistinguishably created by women. since most record labels and booking agencies are male dominated, it does take more effort to seek out these female artists(and especially to vet that they are not dudes using female aliases), but we owe it to them if we want to move beyond the current state of the industry. a mix of entirely female artists is not only possible but it is necessary.”
