When I’ve told people I want to see Queen + Adam Lambert, I get a lot of mixed reactions from people like “but why would you even go: it’s not the same without Freddie!” And “they’re trying to replace him!” and people just need to fucking stop. Adam is a guest, who would never dream of trying to “replace” Freddie and knows it is impossible, and does his own thing — read any of his interviews and you’ll see that. And no, it’s not the same. No one is saying it’s the same. Not Roger. Not Brian. Not Adam. It will never be the same. If any of them could make the world the way they want it, it would be Brian, Roger, Freddie & John still together. But that’s not how it is. And shaming the 3 who are touring or anyone who finds joy in going to see them is frankly unacceptable.

Catering to POC!readers in the Queen fandom

Hey guys so there’s a trend I’m noticing in the Queen fandom, where writers seem to instinctively be writing for a largely white “reader” population. I’m a black woman and sometimes I feel left out. I’m not saying I’m innocent, I find myself doing the same thing sometimes.

So here’s some things to keep in mind when writing characters so that you can include POC!readers:

-Be mindful of this when writing imagines where the reader is the sibling of a band member of Queen, that automatically assumes the reader is white. I’m not saying you can’t do this, but try to find a way to be inclusive (maybe the reader is adopted).

-Not every race can blush, flush, or turn red. Instead you can describe their emotion (they’re embarrassed because, they’re nervous because etc)

-Not every race/everybody has hair you can run your fingers through or likes having their hair touched

-For the love of God don’t compare their skin tone to food

-Not every race has pale skin and pink lips

I’m not writing this to start a fight, just to raise awareness
