FAQ
What is a fic exchange?
A fic exchange (or fic trade or gift fic) is a community event where people sign up to write (or draw or edit) brand new art that fits one of the other people who sign up's prompts. It's a great community building event and results in amazing art for us to consume
How does it work?
In simplest terms: Sign up Opens -> You sign up->Sign up Closes->You get your prompt->You have monthly check ins with the runner to make sure you're still able to complete->You hand in your completed prompt-> ->Prompts get revealed, and you get to read what someone made you!-> Kudo, comment and bookmark so the author feels the love and wants to do this again!
What do I prompt?
It could be as simple as "Eloise and Philip coffee shop AU" or lyrics from a song, or "Philip is a world class goalkeeper, Eloise is the unimpressed lawyer for the team, sparks fly" but remember the author takes your prompt and makes it their own. That's how prompts work--if you have something so specific in mind that anything else would disappoint you, save that and write your own. Remember this prompting is your ONLY chance at making a request. Once sign up closes, nothing will be changed in the prompt and PFE will not be facilitating any changes to prompts.
I don't like the prompt I got because xxxxx
When you signed up, you were agreeing to the prompt. You can take the prompt multiple ways but you agreed to it. This is why it's very, very important to be very clear about what you are willing to write (SFW, NSFW, Break ups, violence, gore etc) when you sign up. If you refuse to write the prompt, please note that withdrawing will result in potentially someone not getting their prompt done and next year you risk not being allowed to sign up.
I over committed and can't finish my prompt
There are two options, first make sure you tell Philoise Fic Exchange as soon as you make that call. Option one: We have a few pitch hitters who will be able to cover some, but we will need to be giving them the most of their time to cover the prompt. The other option is you can turn in your draft/unfinished work with an IOU situation. Life happens, but as long as you're open in communication with us, we can try to make things work

If someone has requested NSFW, can we make it an 18+ contribution
I hesitate to make something 18+ to stop people from participating. For anyone who offers to write something that is an explicit or mature rating, I will ask them to be 18+, but I cannot confirm that. I am operating under the honour system and the concept that people will not write what they are uncomfortable for. If you are uncomfortable writing/reading NSFW, then please do not make yourself write that. However, since the show/book is Bridgerton, famously a romance novel series, and this is a couple that in books went at it 14 times in a week, this is just an occupational hazard. In my experience, most people in gift exchanges don't write smut for someone unless the gifts aren't anonymous and they can ask questions about that.
