2020 has been a sad year for us fans of the first Mad Max. We lost Bertrand Cadart (Clunk) in April, Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter) two weeks ago, and now John Ley (Charlie) today. Rest In Peace, Charlie.

I finally caught a few snippets of the American dub of the original Mad Max. My god.... no wonder it didn’t take off here for decades. MGM should issue a formal apology for that, particularly one to Australia. That’s a travesty.

Every time I heard the Grease Rat speak, this is what I thought of.

I was able to finally watch Resistance and I liked it. It’s a strange film with a strange story about its non release but it was good. I was entertained by this scene. I'm probably older than most of the original Mad Max movie fan base that's around today as I was born in the mid 70's in the U.S. and grew up with the Road Warrior take on the universe. Road Warrior was my first true exposure to Mad Max via VHS back when I was a BMX bike riding squirt. I rediscovered the original, undubbed, back in 2013 and it was an instant love.

I'm a purist. Most of my machinations come from the original and Road Warrior.
