Beauty: The Power of Light by La Prairie

I have been using the new White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire from La Prairie lately and I have to say it helps my skin restore it’s texture and luminosity, making my skin look even, smooth and healthy again. Loving the light texture which is easy to blend but rich enough to keep your skin hydrated, perfect for the humid Hong Kong weather!

Last week, I was invited to the La Prairie Pavilion at Art Basel HK last week. Inspired by the power of light and the new White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire, Swiss artisit Julian Charriere created an art film called “Light Upon An Imaginary Space” exclusively for La Prairie. The film is re-cut into a video installation for the La Prairie Pavilion. I was glad to be one of the first to see this art piece!

Travel: Staycation Weekend

I have been wanting to have a vacation abroad lately, however, my busy schedule simply does not allow it to happen...As I still want to take a break from work and relax for a couple of days, we decided to check into Hotel Jen and have a staycation weekend.

We checked into the Club Suite which offers a stunning harbour view and free access to the gym, the swimming pool, and the club lounge. While we spent a day in the room, reading and calling room service, we spent the next day in the pool and having cocktails in the club lounge. We were totally in holiday mode!

We had our breakfast at two different locations, a Continental style breakfast at the Club Lounge, and an Asian style one at Cafe Malacca. Both of them are buffet style and offer so many different dishes, we were so full that we simply had to skip our lunch!

I am really glad that we decided to have a staycation, even though we were still in Hong Kong, the change of the ambience really makes a difference! Now I am all re-charged and ready to work again!

Phoebe’s Dressing: Everyday Essentials

For this season, my must-have essentials are simple -- a blazer, a slogan tee (preferrably about female empowerment), a pair of wide leg jeans(cropped), mules, a red bag (cause red is the new black), and lots of chunky jewelry.

While I can wear them as an outfit together, I can also mix and match each of these items with other styles, dressing up or down, doing 70s or 90s or both.

Home Sweet Home: Coffee Break with Nespresso

I have always been a coffee lover, in fact, I actually need at least two cups a day to keep me awake and alive to go through the day.

I usually go for French pressed black coffee at home, and cappuccino only when I am out in cafés. But thanks to Nespresso, I can now be my own barista at home, not only I can make an espresso quickly, but also cappuccinos easily!

As the holidays are approaching, I've started putting together a few party wear looks. For me, nothing is better than a classic black and white tux. But I don't want to dress too formal, so I opted for a bomber jacket and a collarless blouse instead of a suit jacket and a shirt. The whole look is still minimal and chic, but changing the silhouette does help to make the whole look more current. And going for all silk fabric simply adds a touch of femininity.

Home Sweet Home: Wall Art

As I work from home, it's always important for me to update my workspace frequently so that I can stay fresh and inspired. I couldn't be happier to finally have found something from 1 of 135 that is both minimal and stylish for my study.

As the weather is finally cooling down, it means the layering season has begun. This is one of my favourite types of weather as I can mix and match a lot of pieces. My go-to style is always a cozy cardigan with a lighter top under. I love minimal looks, but usually I care even more about the details in every piece I wear so that I can turn a basic everyday look into something more special. This time, I went for a silk blouse with frills, a handbag with a piercing motif and a pair of ankle boots with chunky gold heels. I also added a belt with a cicrle ring and other gold accessories to complete the look. Every little detail counts and it's always that little extra that makes an outfit stand out.

It's never been easy for me to find a nice simple white dress up until now. Love the asymmetrical pleated details, so minimal and chic. I matched it with a pair of chunky studded sandals to add some casual urban vibe to the look, but they could easily be swapped for a pair of pumps if I were to go for a drink or attend an event. It's always good to buy versatile clothes that allow you to dress up or down depending on your occassion.

Off Shoulder tops is no doubt the hottest item of the season. In case you still haven't tried it, here are three different looks that I styled with the same off shoulder top for some inspirations.

For Look One, I matched the top with white denim skirt and mules to be more feminine. Adding a choker helps to define your neck and shoulders, making you look taller.

Look Two, I went for a more laid-back / weekend look. I wore it with loose ripped jeans and sneakers. And finally,for Look Three, I matched it with cropped jeans and a pair of feminine heels for a chic and casual look which works for many occassions.

I have been addicted to lace lately and when I saw this top it's just too perfect to let it go - white, lace and bell sleeves - everything that is hot for this season! To balance the femininity, I decided to give it a retro vibe with cropped flared jeans and gladiator sandals. Black and white is always the best combo to keep the whole look simple and chic, of course minimal accessories is the key.

Although Pantone named it as the color of the year, pink has always been popular. It's not difficult to see why -- the different shades of pink can create a completely different look or style. While shocking pink helps to get attention, baby pink increases your sweetness and femininity. I personally always prefer a lighter and muted tone to add some coolness and freshness to my styles. If you haven't tried a pink outfit yet, this is the season to be pretty in pink.

Today’s Special: [WORK] ELI - Lost MV

Last year, LAB VIII shot a music video for a Hong Kong indie band Eli. As the song title suggested, we created a story about the bandmembers being lost in a neverending nightmare. The bleak nightmare takes place in an empty city where the sun never rises. Everyday is the same as previous one and no matter what they do to escape, they keep waking up in the same nightmare.

The nightmare is a metaphor about real life, being stuck doing the same thing everyday, while one is trying to make the dream life come true, which will be to wake up from the nightmare.

When it comes to all black or monochrome outfit, texture is everything. I always love the combo of chunky knits and leather, the two opposite textures perfectly compliment each other, making the outfit stand out. It may be mono but definitely not dull.

Using one of my recent favourite bags from local brand Cafuné. Really love this brand's minimal aesthetics, especially the black marble detailing, perfect for a minimalista like me!
