I just don’t understand how they can just be okay with all of that shit piled in a billion places. Not to mention almost always there are rats and with rats comes rat shit all over the floor, and how can you be comfortable with stepping on shit?

As Phoenix repeated the word Anya’s brows raised the slightest as she realized she’d slipped in another bit of Russian without realizing it and gave him an apologetic smile,

“Sorry, I’d spent my whole life living in Russia so I tend to slip some Russian in still. Malyutka means little one” She explained before listening to him as he explained the situation that had caused Ryder to stay with him “Oh… I’m sorry. I hope she gets better soon but, hey, if you need any help I’d love to be of any assistance”

Phoenix shakes his head as she apologizes. “no no, don’t apologize. Little one, huh? I like that.” Ryder holds his hands out to Anya. “She’ll be fine according to the doc, so not too worried. I may just take you up on that.”

“Well, malyutka, that works out just great because I like you too!” She laughed softly “He’s adorable really… is he staying with you right now?”

“Mal-malyutka?” Phoenix repeats with a curious look on his face. “He really is. Yeah, yeah - taking care of him while my mother - she’s his foster mother - recovers from surgery. There were some problems so I have him another month.”

“Well Ryder, it’s a pleasure meeting you” Anya dimples down at the little one, reaching out and gently touching her index finger to the child’s nose before extending her hand out to Phoenix with the same amiable smile “Anya, great meeting you”

Ryder let out a giggle as his nose is tapped and Phoenix smiles. “I think he likes you.” He says taking her hand to shake. “It’s nice to meet you too.”

“Well who’s this little darling?” Anya asked, looking down at the little child with the other before a faint blush touched her cheeks “Sorry- I didn’t mean to be intrusive”

“This is Ryder.” Phoenix looks up with a smile. “Oh don’t worry about it. Have to expect it when he’s this cute.” He teases as he picks Ryder up and stands. “Hi, I’m Phoenix.”

“Turns out I’m going to have the tiny human for a lot longer than I thought. Time to start looking for an apartment.”
