Friends and guildies, it is with a mixed emotions that I announce <Phoenix Guard>’s final chapter. Originally founded as a guild proper in 2013, the Guard has been through it all; intense campaigns, goofy side stories, incredible (and also terrible) expansions, transmog runs and all manner of other shenanigans. Unfortunately, due to the ever-growing real life commitments of careers and families for the officers, we are unable to give <Phoenix Guard> the time and attention that we think it deserves. Instead of continuing on in the low/very minimal activity level we are currently at, I, Ruthar, Syrielle and Gattius have unanimously decided that the current Home Front plot will be our final one as a guild and a fitting end to the years of stories and service for <Phoenix Guard>. We will be putting <Phoenix Guard> on the shelf with an IC tie-in to current World of Warcraft storyline. After we complete the Home Front plot, the Guard’s commission will be expired and all current members will receive transfer orders or reassignments to other Thalassian or Horde factions by command of the Warchief. This means that your character will go back to being a Farstrider or a Blood Knight, a Horde soldier or join up with another organization or guild. We will have one final social RP event to properly decommission the Guard; awards for exemplary service will be given to members both current and former who choose to attend. All who wish to bid <Phoenix Guard> farewell are welcome to attend. When we have an official time set for this event, we will make an announcement and proper calendar event. I will retain guild leadership and anyone who has no immediate plans to relocate is welcome to stay in <Phoenix Guard> as a vanity guild tag and make use of the guild bank/perks/etc until 11/19/2018. At that time, I will remove anyone still left in the guild and shut down the Discord server. Thanks for everything, guys. Truly. It’s been a hell of a ride with ups and downs; I devoted the better part of my 20’s to this guild. I have grown as a person and made incredible friendships because I have been a guild master, and I will miss being Commander Mom. And I will miss all of you. You have shared your writing, your art, your stories and your lives with me for close to six years and I will never forget fun times and all the natural 1’s we’ve rolled. Love, Ina'thia / Kristen

PHOENIX GUARD LEGION GUIDE & FAQ: To the Broken Isles!

Expansion Launch RP Freeze: After conclusion of our demon invasion mini-plot on 8/28/16, we paused all guild RP for the expansion launch. Now that we’re creeping up on the end of that two weeks, the time for guild RP is upon us! This is how it will go down:

Phoenix Guard members, after defeating the dreadlord Qui’zuhr, remained stationed on the Isle of Quel’Danas until the call to go to the Broken Isles went out.

At this time, the Guard would have boarded ships leaving Sun’s Reach Harbor and set sail for the Broken Isles.

Phoenix Guard will land on the shores of Azsuna, flanking the demon invaders attacking outposts on the shoreline. We will have a small forward operating base near the Illidari Stand (Reliquary camp).

Phoenix Guard will lead an RP event that details the guild storming the beach and establishing their base. This RP scene will be “backdated” to when the forces of Azeroth converge on the Broken Isles (e.g., expansion launch events). After this event’s completion, the guild will be considered at “current timeline” with the rest of the expansion. At this that time, you can fill in the gaps for your character’s story involving class order halls, zone quests, etc.

Level & Zone Completion Requirement: Since Phoenix Guard’s storylines in Legion will be told primarily in the Broken Isles, it is required that you are at level cap (110) on your RP main and have completed the zone storyline chapters. This is essential to avoid frustration with phasing and sharding mechanics of the zones that we will be RPing in -- we will be RPing in Azsuna first.

Artifact Weapons: Phoenix Guard will not be participating as a guild in the race to collect artifact weapons. We will not have individuals in the guild with THE Ashbringer, THE Felo’melorn, THE Truthguard, etc. We feel that these items are far too powerful and far too unique for our guild to handle. You CAN, however, have powerful magic-infused replicas or weapons resembling the famous artifacts. You CAN play off the visual effects as IC for your character (example: Felo’melorn’s little fire orbs, Ashbringer setting things on fire with the Light).

Class Order Hall Storylines: Phoenix Guard will not be formally participating in any of the Class Order Hall storylines. We feel it would be unfair to commit to one class while there are many other great stories and experiences for other classes that we probably won’t get around to exploring. We encourage you as individuals to pursue those storylines on a personal, non-guild basis -- make friends within your class! The Class Order Halls are such great ways to network outside of the guild.

Demon Hunters: We are still not recruiting demon hunters until further notice. You are welcome to have your Demon Hunter in the guild under the OOC/Alt rank.

These images are the letters that Nara looted off of the eredar hound master off the Greengill Coast on Sat 8/20. The letter is (translated) Demonic. They are intended to be props to be used in RP throughout the week, as we ramp up for our pre-Legion finale event next weekend!

These letters are being kept at the Phoenix Guard's base on the Isle of Quel'Danas and can be viewed by any current member of the guild.

The demon plot on Quel’Danas that we are running is closed to members of <Phoenix Guard> at this time.

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to give a heads up as to how Phoenix Guard has been handling the pre-expansion release events, as well as the expansion release itself:

We will be acknowledging the chronological, canon timeline of events (i.e., Broken Shore scenario happened on Tuesday 8/9).

While Phoenix Guard formally has not mobilized to the Broken Shore, you may choose to write your characters as having participated in in the events and lived to tell the tale at our event on Monday 8/15.

We will be participating in the demon invasion world events with scheduled guild events, but please feel free to jump in on invasions ICly as sort of a “drop mission” type of thing. We want you to be able to enjoy new content throughout the day when the officers are unavailable to formally DM an event.

We will be unveiling a schedule of RP events for our own in-house plot line that will run in tandem with the demon invasion events.

We will halt all guild RP for two weeks starting with the expansion release — this is for the purpose of all members getting a chance to experience the new content, level up and have fun exploring the Broken Isles/their class quests! This period of wiggle room also accounts for server downtime, DDoS and login server problems that we think will probably be a thing.

For the RP Freeze, we will have a finale event that ends in a cliffhanger. After the week of new content, we will pick up from that cliffhanger and catch up to server/RP continuity.

For players who finish content and want to RP before the freeze period ends, there will be special Magistry-assigned missions for them to complete on the Broken Isles.

We also feel it is prudent to give a reminder of our guild policy on the new Demon Hunter class:

Demon Hunters will not be formally inducted into the Phoenix Guard as members. Although the Horde has reluctantly trusted the Illidari, the Phoenix Guard has not.

At a later date in the expansion, we will plan to do a side story for Demon Hunter alts of guildies/friends of guildies to participate in them aiding a Phoenix Guard campaign. The time, type of story and all that related info is very loose TBA at this point since none of us have played the expansion!

You can put your Demon Hunter alts in Phoenix Guard under the “OOC/Alt” rank as you create, level and play around with them but they will have no formal involvement with the Phoenix Guard’s guild storyline (yet, TBA, Soon (TM)).

We hope you’re all enjoying the Broken Shores scenario, pre-expansion invasion events and all the fun and exciting new things that Blizzard is rolling out for World of Warcraft: Legion! We’ll see you on Monday 8/15 @ 8:00pm ST to kick off our Legion campaign!

Invasion

Crisis.

That’s what we were born to deal with.

Crisis, catastrophe, calamity - all of it ours to handle, all of it ours to manage.

Ruthar looks over to the members of the collected council. All the leaders of the organizations in Silvermoon were here - himself, Ina’thia, and Gattius of the Guard; representatives from the 133rd; heads within the Magistry, the Farstiders, and the Blood Knights; even some faces he thought were lost to the wilds of Draenor. All answered the call.

The Legion has finally found a way to this world far more stable than ever before, far more dangerous than anything they had faced. The time is now to act, and all those collected here alongside all those that stood beneath their command will do so with deadly haste. There is not a moment to lose - everything stands on the brink of total annihilation.

Death itself has finally returned.

World of Warcraft’s sixth expansion, Legion, fast approaches and the Phoenix Guard stands ready. Today, August 9th, the Legion has officially re-entered Azeroth with a whole host of new content to experience and enjoy as the pre-expansion events are now underway!

What does this mean for our characters? Well, the Phoenix Guard will be quick to respond to the action as always, but not right out of the gate. As is typical with things of this nature, we fully anticipate server errors and problems to plague us for the first little while as the new content settles in. As such, the Phoenix Guard will not formally react ICly until next Monday night.

At that time, on Monday, August 15th at 8pm ST, the Phoenix Guard leadership will call an emergency meeting to unveil their part in the Legion’s invasion. We will react swiftly and throw ourselves right into the action, facing down the Legion just as we did all those years ago in defense of our sacred Sunwell. We will hold a series of events in tandem with the Legion invasion storyline that leads up to the expansion’s release on August 30th. At that time, we will pause official guild roleplay to allow the membership to enjoy the new content and level up their characters before we begin the new guild campaign in World of Warcraft: Legion.

In summation, dig into the new content with the Legion Invasions and the continuation of the cinematic’s storyline as it becomes available today. The guild’s roleplay for the Legion Invasion will begin this coming Monday and continue on throughout the coming weeks until the expansion is officially upon us. Fear. Hatred. Betrayal. Dread. Premonition.

The march was long in Draenor, and the valiant sin’dorei of the Phoenix Guard got no reprieve from duty when they returned home. As the threat of the Iron Horde was quelled, a new one has slowly begun to take shape. It first started with odd magical occurrences — wayward doomsayers in the Plaguelands, a slight shift in the leylines around Azeroth, to betrayal in the shadow of a faceless threat.

Sin’dorei, being sensitive to shifts in magical energies, can feel that something is not quite right. For those that have lived long enough, the know that the world is on the precipice of something very, very wrong…

Phoenix Guard is turning three years old on July 27th, 2016! In celebration, we are continuing our tradition of a writing contest!

PROMPT: Describe your character’s worst fears — that bottomless pit of dread in the bottom of their stomachs, that knot in their throat that won’t quite go away, the recurring nightmare that wakes them from sleep. It can be a personal fear of losing a loved one, a battlefield, or premonitions of the opening events of the upcoming expansion, World of Warcraft: Legion.

GUIDELINES: We want to be as freeform as possible with this — the submission can be a short story, a poem, or anything in between, so long as it’s a piece of writing.

JUDGING: Inathia, Ruthar and Gattius will be judging the contest this year! While we may submit our own entries for this themed prompt for fun, we’ll be exempt from winning any prizes. We will be judging the entries on creativity in interpreting the prompt, and just how terrifying your character’s nightmare scenario is!

ENTRY SUBMISSION: Entries should be submitted to [email protected] — Ina will share the entires with Ruthar and Gattius as they are received.

PRIZES: We are offering two prizes this year: one for Phoenix Guard members, and one for members of the Wyrmrest Accord RP community! We welcome community members from Alliance to participate in the contest, but prizes will be given out on WrA-Horde.
