This is literally a point that Julia Serano makes in "Whipping Girl." She points to the fact that marginalized people have to understand the privileges and struggles that those who are held above them in society have, and their own marginalization, better than the people above them in the social heirachy do in order to survive.
Women generally understand the role that men and women play in patriarchy better than men generally do, and trans women in general understand the role that cis women, cis men, and ourselves play in cissexualarchy(? for lack of a better term) better than cis women and cis men generally do. Because we have to in order to survive this world. Cis people don't have to understand it at the level that we do, because its made for them.
