Pamela Granatowski, I have nothing to wear
‘I have nothing to wear’ is a common statement, which is expressed before leaving the house in front of a wide open wardrobe. This ‘pathetic spectacle’ (how my partner calls it) is played usually in the front of a potential victim. The particular calamity affects people who have surplus of clothing, while unable to decide what to wear in a particular situation. The dilemma that occurs at various occasions is associated with stepping outside of the comfort zone (that means home). The circumstances of this phenomenon - symptoms, infects the prose of everyday life (such as going to work, shopping), thus exacerbating during the so-called ‘Big Day" (participation in celebration of family nature: wedding, funeral; formal: job interview, delegation, vernissage etc.). A trip to the woods or hiking in the mountains can also be problematic since the garment should serve a protection and ergonomic function. Despite having a bunch of outfits I do not feel peace of mind or safety. According to Stevan E. Hobfoll, a researcher working within the theory of stress in psychological terms, this state occurs due to improper management of gains and losses. I cannot make a decision to eliminate some of my clothes and assets nor to accept the fact that I probably will never dress into these clothes again - as a result the stress level rises! My work aims at applying the final cut - removal of garment from within the domestic area and to perceive that satisfaction can be achieved by a significant reduction of resources.

Post-plein-air exhibition within the 5th edition of the "Urban Observatory Festival" ("Obserwatorium Miejskie") is a summary of the six-month actions, for which the concept of resources was the starting point.
The resource is an extremely capacious category associated with a number of human’s core sectors. It may refer to the areas related to economy and industry, urban planning, environmental protection and culture. Resource is not only the supply and reserve, raw material, but also includes the experience, knowledge, memory and skills.
During the project the artists, who participated in the seminar, field workshops and plein-air have developed diverse artistic concepts regarding the act of collecting, use and processing of resources. Most of the artists departed from the material world of raw materials, energy or processing capacities, seeking resources less tangible and difficult to define.

The presented artworks concern information sets, deposits of memory, genetic resources hidden in the DNA code or even internal emotional reserves. In this way, artists became acquainted with the tension spread between the private economics of everyday life and material circulation of goods.

"Urban Observatory" is an experimental festival carried out within the urban space of Torun since 2012. The project was initiated by the tasty! Foundation (Fundacja smacznego!) and has been organized together with the Miłość Gallery and the Wybudowania Foundation for the last two years. The actions are concentrated on the peripheral, individual and ephemeral phenomena focused around social issues and urban planning. This year's edition of the festival was set up as an extended over time activity - including meetings, walks, discussions, as well as a seminar, a plain-air and an exhibition - based on the cooperation of an interdisciplinary team of artists, curators and researchers in various fields (biology, ecology, economics, sociology, history) concentrated on the concept of resources.
