Anastasia puckered her lips at Charlieâs reply, a list of unkind nouns and adjectives darted across her mind. She silenced them. âOkay. Fine. Sure. Iâll go tug this along here by myself, no biggie.â Heaving a great sigh, she began to pull the canoe from the sand to the water, glad that at least her training had given her the muscle to perform a task on her own. âYou know, for future reference, this would have gone a lot faster if youâd helped.â Anastasia advised, as she settled the canoe a quarter of the way into the water. âBut by all means, have me do all the work.â
Nemesis couldnât help but smirk as she watched the young demigod tug the canoe through the sand. Anastasia hadnât even fought her on the subject. Weak. âYou are the one who caused that mess the other day, arenât you? Itâs only fair to make you work a little harder than need be.â Nemesis mused, running a hand through Charlieâs hair. The wind was picking up, but only gradually. âLetâs do this quickly.â She nudged the canoe with Charlieâs foot, âI donât think this thing will survive a storm.â Having already cast Charlieâs sandals to the side by the docks, Nemesis slowly edged her way into the water, motioning for Anastasia to do the same.
