I know lots of you are in the middle of canning season! Let this be your gentle reminder to always adequately and accurately label your jars! You don't want to go to open a jelly and find out it was really something else a long time ago x.x

You've probably heard at least part of this quote from Shakespeare's Macbeth:

“Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble.”

But did you know that most of these terms were not literal? Eye of newt, for example, just means mustard seed. Shakespeare's witches weren't brewing up an unholy mixture of animal parts, but simple plants!

There's been a lot of corvid content floating around lately, and like so many others I share the dream of befriending my local crows and enjoying a special relationship where my arrival is foretold by ominous cawing, my familiars gift me with treasures, and little feather-demons dive-bomb any neighbors that cross me (only hypothetically--my neighbors are currently all lovely and generous).

But the reality... may not be so nice. I took a lot of inspiration from this article.
