So, I guess this isn't going to be back up? 'Cause you guys are really cool, and I'd love to see this continued...
I am considering a relaunch, but don't really want to take down the art that is already up since, nor re-post it. I honestly don't know what to do. I don't want to disband the blog because I do honestly want to pick it back up again some time. Just not sure how to best achieve what I want, and keep up with it and keep it active! Sorry! :(
Will this blog pick back up again? I was just re-reading the Abhorsen trilogy and I miss your art from here :(
I really really want it to pick back up but it isn't entirely up to me. I am currently at a 40+ hour job and I know other members have the same obstacles or other ones, so I've been having a hard time figuring out how to get this project back on track.
What'd you guys stop for? I love picture this book ;_;
Life just took over. Probably will be back after the hectic holidays! I'm not ready to quit this club just yet!

From chapter 23... which I didn't even think to check if that was one of the ones assigned this week. W, whoops Anyway, the way I've been choosing scenes is taking the ones that have lingered most vividly in my mind since the first time I read Sabriel. Which has the nasty side effect of making it look like a trashy book about zombies and kissing. Talk about your misrepresenations! But to a 12 year old me, the things that stuck out most in my mind were the ickiest things.
So... zombies. And kissing. And icky boy part things.
[once upon a time I had typed something out here. Something about the allegorical and abstracted nature of my color schemes and backgrounds striving to represent tone and thematic concerns rather than naturalistic and situationally accurate schema, but WHOOPS I DELETED THAT. And WHOOPS WHO CARES BUT ME.]

Another week of starting out on something ambitious but ending up on something scribbly. Welp. At least this scene should feel familiar to everyone who has ever owned 1) a cat, 2) a bathtub, and 3)secret feelings.

Week seven:
“At the end of the main street, on the highest point of the bluff, a Charter Stone stood on a patch of carefully tended lawn. Half of the stone had been sheared away, pieces broken and tumbled, dark stone on green turf. A body lay in front of the stone, hands and feet bound, the gaping cut across the throat a clear sign of where the blood had come from- the blood for the sacrifice that broke the stone.

‘Whoever… whatever… killed her and broke the stone didn’t enslave her spirit.’ Sabriel added quietly, as if thinking to herself. ‘I wonder why?
…
‘I don’t know your name, Healer,’ Sabriel whispered. ‘But I hope you go quickly beyond the Final Gate. Farewell.’”
I was planning to do my favorite scene in the book and talk a whole lot about it, but it turned out my eyes were bigger than my talent. Instead, have a mordicant! The constant danger the hunting mordicant presents is literally a driving force for Sabriel, so it helps keep the pacing brisk. It's only in this week's chapters that team Abhorsen has managed to shake him, so this doesn't correspond to any specific passages. And I've been saying 'him', haven't I? Probably should say it. Hard to tell with those pesky greater dead.
No updates to the character portraits this week, everyone's stable.
