Forgive me, Madam, for taking up so much of your time.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (2005) dir. Joe Wright
“Get a billion Christians to pray for a single amputee. Get them to pray that God regrow that missing limb. This happens to salamanders every day, presumably without prayer; this is within the capacity of God.
I find it interesting that people of faith only tend to pray for conditions that are self-limiting.”
– Sam Harris
Why is your god limited to the already-possible?
You already know prayer doesn’t work. That’s why you only ask for things that are entirely feasible without your god: so you can feed your confirmation bias and find your god in the minutiae of human life. To actually ask for anything really real and divine - an actual miracle - would be to risk disconfirmation.
And yes, the bible says not to test your god. Except that you do, all the time. Every time you test that it’s there and decide that it must be, every time you test that it’s good, and decide it is… this is you testing it.
