I have such a strong image in my mind of like classic mmo cluster of players but everyone is birds and all sunning themselves on like a big expanse of rock waiting for it to heat up enough and then all riding the thermals into the sky to go do their mmo activities or whatever. but unfortunately I will never make this because I know I would despise the process of trying to make a game and havent considered it seriously since I was a child and determined to learn how to make a better wolfquest since I thought the existing one was embarrassingly lacking in detail and mechanics.
something missing from games where you can fly that i really want is like.... dynamic wind currents and thermals. I think most games lean more towards having a static indicator of wind that operates as a little boost but I desperately want something that changes over time and with the weather. you could have to contend with that variation nearer to the ground and then could travel longer distances using high altitude winds like real migratory birds. I think my dream is some sort of large scale bird mmo where we all take off in huge flocks and follow the wind together but game developers keep not designing their games for me alone for some reason.
Nothing there.
the chimney swift is a medium-sized member of the swift family primarily found in the southeastern united states + northern south america. at one point, these birds used hollow trees to nest; today, they are almost entirely found using man-made structures, primarily chimneys, which is how they get their name. like other swifts, they are unable to perch, but can vertically cling to surfaces. if groups of chimney swifts are disturbed, they may loudly clap their wings in an attempt to scare off predators. these birds live much of their lives in the air, and only feed on insects and arthropods caught in flight.

This came dangerously close to being a good bird photo. Glad this Brewer's Blackbird made the executive decision to take off right when I took the picture.

Cassowary family 🐦Dino Bird (2017)
This cassowary is now a proud father. He cares for all three chicks equally, even if they may not all be his. They are only three weeks old and Dad keeps them close.
