Soaps All-Time Most Romantic Couples
Todd Manning & Blair Cramer (Tender Trap)
When Llanview’s local pariahs, Todd and Blair, first hooked up, their neighbors didn’t know whether to be terrified (of what plot they might hatch) or relieved (that they were off the market). As it happened, either reaction would have been fitting. In the years that followed, the on-again/off-again couple schemed as foreplay, wreaking havoc on their hometown, but always saving their cruelest tricks for each other. By now, no doubt can remain that their love is mutual and powerful. The only question is, will they ever be able to channel their feelings in a way that doesn’t leave a path of destruction in their wake?
[No other woman in Llanview has been able to make Todd see red quite like his soul(less)mate, Blair]

“I love the way Todd looks at Blair.”

DAY SEVENTEEN: Favorite Enemy
No one else can compare to Dr. Dorian Lord. While she is Blair’s biggest champion, she most certainly can be considered an “enemy” to TnB because she loathed Todd Manning with a burning passion (something that was resoundingly mutual). It often seemed like a tug-of-war over Blair, and while her head often sided with Dorian during the darkest points of their relationship, her heart always sided with Todd (which only made Dorian hate him more). I also appreciated the dichotomy between Blair/Dorian and Todd/Viki that was present in the classic TnB era (Viki as the angel on Todd’s shoulder and Dorian as the devil on Blair’s shoulder). Dorian, to me, just made every scene better so there was never a single scene with the three of them that I didn’t just adore. It was definitely missing in the early 2000’s where they tried to substitute Kelly as TnB’s foil (underwhelming) and was yet another one of the many many many missed beats in the 2011 story (fuck Cartini forever) but Dorian/Blair/Todd was one of the few things that made 1996 and early 1997 worth watching.

DAY TWENTY: Favorite Todd Quote To Blair
I could have picked several for this one but there are several great quotes in this scene that I love because it dispels so many things others have tried to claim about TnB: the main one being that “Todd never loved Blair and was only with her because of the kids.” Todd smashed that narrative with a sledgehammer when he tells Blair out-right that not only he isn’t with her because of the kids but it was her, not the kids, that kept him alive when he was stranded in the middle of the ocean. Of course these are things all the TnBers already knew but it was nice to have Todd say it. There was something different about Todd when he came back from the island - he seemed to sort of wear his heart of his sleeve and wasn’t afraid to declare himself, his feelings or his intentions to Blair. When he tells her she changed everything for him and that he’s not giving up while she’s still alive *swoon* (of course Cartini would rewrite this when Todd returned in 2011 but as usual, fuck them forever)

DAY TWENTY-THREE: Favorite Flirty Scene
How is it that these two are hotter than ever as grandparents? Kassie and Roger deserved an honorary medal for making magic with the absolute minimal material given to them in 2011 and 2012. You can tell Cartini were just NOT INTERESTED in writing for TnB. They barely had scenes together but when they did, oh boy, did these two bring IT. All credit goes the actors for that. In the context of the scene, Todd is desperate to reunite with Blair and make up for lost time with their family (Starr, Jack and Hope). Blair is understandably hesitant given her own track record with psychotic men and Todd’s pattern of lying to her. But she’s all for flirting with him in the meantime and New Year’s Eve was a significant episode for them. My favorite parts - Blair being the only person to make Todd smile, Blair gesturing her chest when she says Todd can’t sleep *here* tonight and of course Todd’s scorching neck kiss. It made every fan watching want to see Blair grab Todd by his tie and drag him up those stairs. Too bad what we got after this was that stupid shooting and focus on Starr/Cole instead. As always, fuck Cartini forever.

DAY TWENTY-FOUR: Favorite Jealousy Scene
I could have picked so many for this one because I think Todd Manning might just be the most jealous character in soap history. He hated men in the same room as Blair and assumed they all wanted to have sex with her (and to his credit, a lot of them did and Blair had a habit of being naive to that fact whether willingly or not). These scenes of course follow the infamous Marilyn Monroe Caper as Blair, Todd and Dorian scheme David Vickers and retrieve Irene Manning’s diary. Even in this context, Todd KNOWS Blair is REPULSED by Vickers and is not even remotely interested in him (and never would be, you hear that, GH writers? NEVER HAPPENED.) but Todd still can’t help but be jealous and have that drive him crazy as he waits for Blair in the limo. I had to pick this if for no other reason than for Todd’s line to Blair; “the thought of somebody else touching you makes me want to smash something.” Well, you can’t say he didn’t warn her! It was the barbaric jealousy that was responsible for the majority of TnB’s problems that would follow then through the years. Whether it was kidnapping Starr and committed arson after finding her with Patrick, almost setting her on fire when witnessing a liplock with Cristian, turning her in to the cops, trying to set her up for murder and telling her that her baby was dead when she went back to Max, forcing her into hiding when she was with Sam, threshing Troy when he held Blair’s hand, or holding Tomas hostage after he slept with Blair - it all stems for that uncontrollable jealousy and possessiveness Todd has for Blair and their profound, deep and all-consuming love. Also, look at Todd in the last gif! Our girl WORE HIM OUT!
Llanview's Leading Ladies Let Loose
"We are family" might be the new motto for ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Cramer women. United in the pursuit of fame, fortune and a fabulous wardrobe, these ladies have decided that they can get what they want without the help of the opposite sex. (From left) Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Gina Tognoni (Kelly), Robin Strasser (Dorian) and *Laura Koffman (Cassie) sat down with Soap Opera Digest for a no-holds-barred chat at the chi chi Cafe des Aristes restaurant in New York City.
Digest: What's the best thing that's happened to you this year?
Strasser: It's a little self-serving, but winning the Soap Opera Digest Award has to be right up there. That was a big thrill.
DePaiva, Koffman and Tognoni in unison: Very well deserved.
Strasser: I hate that expression, girls.
DePaiva: Robin hates any compliment you ever give her...
Tognoni: ... while she's working.
Strasser: And I'm a little superstitious, too. After dress rehearsal, they'll say, "Oh, that was so good." I'm like, "Don't tell me."
DePaiva: She thinks we're complimenting her, but we're not. I'm trying to tell her she sucks.
Strasser: Thank you for sharing, Kassie.
DePaiva: Actually, her wardrobe is what's working (smiles). There have been some dresses she's worn that I'll say, "I'm sorry, I cannot work with this. She has those big boobies; I can't work with her."
Strasser: (Ray, the stage manager) always says, "We're just trying to make the material more uplifting."
DePaiva: It's like, never work with babies, animals or Robin's breasts. You just can't compete.
Tognoni: You should see her when she has that negligee stuff on.
Koffman: Thank God, Cassie never walked in on it!
Strasser: All right, was that dress too low-cut for the Soap Opera Digest Awards? Yes, it was, but I had never worn anything like that. Even my mother was astonished.
Koffman: Everybody said you looked so fabulous.
Tognoni: You looked great.
Strasser: I got nailed by the New York Daily News for wearing too low-cut a dress and they said Gina's was...
Tognoni: Too frumpy. We both made the paper.
Strasser: Patricia Mauceri (Carlotta) and I once made "Worst Dressed" in the Enquirer. We didn't deserve it. It was the hottest day, 104 degrees, and we were at a blood drive. We were giving up our time for a fund-raiser and we got nailed for wearing flowered dresses.
DePaiva: If I wore Blair's dresses out in the street, I would be acosted!
Strasser: Just because they don't cover your rear end?
DePaiva: They don't cover my rear end, they don't cover my boobs. I love Susan Gammie (OLTL costume designer) but she...
Strasser: ... undresses you.
Digest: And how about you, Gina?
Tognoni: I was nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award - that was fantastic. It was the first time I'd ever been nominated for anything.
DePaiva: Won't be the last, honey.
Strasser: She's the best young actress I've ever worked with - and I've worked with plenty.
Digest: Which OLTL actor would you like to work with that you haven't already?
DePaiva: I think Laura (as Cassie) should have a fantasy sequence. In each scene a different actor comes in and takes his clothes off and she sleeps with him. The first scene should be with Kevin Stapleton (Kevin).
Koffman: I like him.
DePaiva: There was a scene where Cassie is supposed to be speechless when she sees Kevin without his shirt on. (In real life) Laura said, "Oh my God."
Koffman: I was so mortified, he opens up the door and I was like (shows a stunned look). I blew all my lines.
DePaiva: It was right on cue.
Koffman: And Robyn Goodman (supervising producer) said, "Nice chest, huh Laura?"
Strasser: Does he have a nice chest?
DePaiva: Yes.
Digest: Who would you like to work with, Gina?
Tognoni: Susan Haskell (Marty). I think she's awesome. And Thorsten Kaye (Patrick). I had a few scenes with him. Man, he's so there. He's sooo there.
Koffman: I never worked with Roger Howarth (Todd).
Digest: You'd like to work with Roger?
Koffman: Oh yeah, in a minute.
Strasser: I would love to work with Bob Woods (Bo). Years and years ago, Dorian and Bo went on a date. He took off his cowboy hat and planted one on me. It was enjoyable. They never let me do a scene with him again. Broke my heart.
Digest: Let's do a male word association. I'll name a co-star and you tell me the first word that pops into your head. We'll start with Thorsten Kaye.
Tognoni: Sexy.
Strasser: Wow. Wow.
DePaiva: Lovely.
Digest: John Loprieno (Cord).
Tognoni: He's really sweet.
Koffman: Brilliant.
Strasser: Dreamboat.
DePaiva: Precious. He's going to hate us, you know that.
Digest: Nathan Fillion (Joey).
DePaiva: Nathan is the best.
Tognoni: He's a brilliant comedian.
Koffman: He gives a lot of love and he needs a lot of love.
Strasser: Look how much he's changed in just the last year and a half. He's a major player and we'll all be very proud to have known him.
Digest: Phil Carey (Asa).
Tognoni: Curmudgeon. Hilarious.
Koffman: I love him. He's great.
Strasser: Bigger than life.
DePaiva: I love him. And I love working with him.
Digest: Moving on to dressing rooms - whose is the messiest?
Strasser and DePaiva: Probably mine.
DePaiva: Laura and I share a room. She is clean. When I moved in with her, she told me where I could hang my pictures.
Koffman: I did not.
DePaiva: Yes, you did. You hung them for me, actually.
Digest: Let's talk wardrobe.
DePaiva: We need to get Dorian a new wardrobe. I'm taking her shopping.
Strasser: My mom thanks you. Actually, if there's anybody who need to be taken shopping, it's Cassie.
Koffman: Agreed.
DePaiva: When you start doing Kevin.
All: Oooohhh.
DePaiva: I see that coming around the corner. Of course, last week, Dorian says, "Come on Cassie, aren't you tired of that reverend?" I thought I would...
Koffman: Die.
Digest: What film actor would you love to work with?
Koffman: Kevin Bacon. I find him amazing.
DePaiva: He's over at my gym all the time. I would love to work with John Travolta. I think my energy could work off him. That'd be fun.
Strasser: Robert DeNiro and Liam Neeson. In separate scenes. And Tommy Lee Jones. Yep, darn it. I didn't play the part then, but Dorian apparently had an affair with Tommy Lee Jones' character (Dr. Mark Toland, 1971-1975)
Koffman: I love Harrison Ford. I saw him once in Sloan's supermarket at 10 o'clock at night. I said to him, "I love your work, forever." Forever? Shit! He looked at me and said, "Thanks." For three days, I kept thinking, "What a jerk I am. What a jerk!"
Digest: Is there an initiation ritual you go through when you do your first love scene on the show?
Tognoni: They took my underwear and hung it on the flagpole.
Koffman: Ugghhh!
Tognoni: Joking.
Digest: Is it awkward doing a love scene?
Koffman: They're the hardest.
DePaiva: Love scenes are not ad-libbed; they're choreographed.
Strasser: You wouldn't want to do a love scene with somebody who you didn't like the taste, smell, or feel of - that's a lot like life.
DePaiva: I worked with an actor for a year and a half who didn't want to do love scenes with me. He was very uncomfortable with sexual scenes. That's very difficult, but you have to do the best you can and try not to take it personally.
Digest: What's the most revealing outfit you've had to wear on the show?
DePaiva: I had to strip down to a bra and panties. You feel extremely naked. I've also done love scenes where I just have pasties on.
Tognoni: I just did that last week.
Strasser: I don't wear pasties.
Tognoni: You don't wear anything?
Strasser: No.
DePaiva: Good for you.
Strasser: If something showed, I would rather they cut the tape than have that Band-Aid shot.
Koffman: So you don't wear anything?
Strasser: I wear underwear but I don't wear anything up above.
Digest: What do you think about the Cramer women uniting?
DePaiva: I think it's very interesting and very dynamic.
Strasser: It's a good family unit.
Koffman: I'm just hoping that it keeps developing. It's so powerful.
DePaiva: I think women's issues can be dealt with. And we could talk about self-esteem.
Tognoni: Even though Kelly doesn't have any.
DePaiva: See, that's something. Neither does Blair. I think the Cramer women can put the "fun" in dysfunction.
Digest: And what would you like to do as a united family?
Tognoni: Kick some butt!

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIFSETS (KDP30)
Blair and her miracle son, Jack. Probably the healthiest, most stable and loving relationships she’s ever had with a man.
12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIFSETS (KDP30)
Blair and her beloved aunt/partner in crime, Dr. Dorian Lord
12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS GIFSETS (KDP30)
Blair and her best friend, her formidable rival, her equal partner, her soulmate from hell and love of her life, her husband (past, present and future) Todd Manning
Former rapist Todd and full-time schemer Blair shared a one-nighter in late 1994. In 1995, Blair faked a pregnancy and married Todd to get his inheritance. They divorced, but remarried for love. Blair gave birth to Todd’s daughter, Starr, in 1996, but his jealousy drove them apart and he paid Tea to marry him so he’d obtain parental custody. After a divorce and remarriage to Tea, Todd fled town and prosecution in 1998, came back in 2000 and knocked up Blair earlier this year. She lied that the kid was Max’s after Todd dumped her at the altar. In October, Todd gave the newborn away and told Blair that the tot had died; he just got his hands back on the baby after learning that it really is his son after all.
When Blair met Todd, how did she feel about his rapist past?
“Blair wasn’t one to judge. Todd was exciting. She had always been such an outcast and he accepted her. And in turn, that made her accept him for who he was. She knew he wasn’t perfect and she liked that.”
What is the continuing attraction between them?
“That they’re both outsiders and they understand each-other. They’re better together than they are separate.”
Was Blair jealous of Tea?
“She didn’t like her. Blair felt that she stole her life and her daughter away. She loved Todd and she loves her daughter, and Tea came in and tried to be a Blair wannabe.”
Why do they have such a hard time getting together for any length of time?
“Because both of them are so afraid of being hurt and being left alone. And the trust factor is a big deal.”
Have you disagreed with the story path over the years?
“Yeah. The start of Blair not telling him she was pregnant with his child, and his taking Starr away and kicking Blair out of the house - that was mean stuff that Todd and Blair wouldn’t do to each-other.”
Are Todd and Blair soul mates?
“Yes. Their connection is so deeply rooted. Less is more with them. They don’t even need dialogue to speak. What they don’t say speaks volumes.”
Blair’s now had two kids with Todd. Is he the man she always envisioned being a father to her children?
“If you’re part of the Addams family, yes. They’re not the all-American, loving, white-picket-fence kind of family, but what they feel is real and they don’t hold anything back.”
- Kassie DePaiva Interview in Soap Opera Digest (2001)
Starr-Crossed Lovers
Kassie DePaiva’s favorite storyline is the relationship her character, Blair, shares with ex-hubby, Todd (Roger Howarth). “It’s a powerful story that’s compelled the audience to continue to watch to see if these characters will ever get back together,” notes the actress. “And I think there could definitely be a chance for Todd and Blair, but there are a lot of holes that need to be filled in.” Such as? “There have never been scenes explaining why Marty was so important to Todd and Blair wasn’t,” she states. “There have never been scenes showing that Starr (Kristen Alderson) is a part of both of them.” With perhaps the exception of the goodbye between Todd, Blair and Starr in the stables. “Those scenes were so sad but those kinds of moments are good soap opera - when you see two people in their own pain and in their own world,” declares DePaiva. “Blair and Todd want life to be different but there’s nothing they can do.”

DAY THIRTY: Favorite ‘I Love You’
"The love that never died." Love this. Today the official page of the show made this post and made it official, Tommy never stopped loving Grace, and he never will. She is his only one. The only woman he loved on the show.
The Inmortal Man.
Ok so there is a wagon with photos burning, and we see that two photos are of Polly and John. Surely it's Tommy, who will die in the movie?
We also see Tommy holding a woman's hand, and there is a lot of lighting, does it seem like a dream or the afterlife? Will it be Grace? So many questions but what excitement! It looks very good.
They always wanted to be close to each other.
