antique stone carvings, belonging to houses from as early as 1607 .When the houses crumbled down these plates were kept and can now be seen in a wall at Historical Delfshaven ,Rotterdam.They show mostly herring as that was with which this place got rich during 1500-1600 .
this part of Historical Delfshaven is called Voorhaven. This is the place the Pilgrimfathers (the Puritans) left Rotterdam -and Holland- for their journey to the New Land,America , 400 years ago this year.
This is the little harbour called the Achterhaven, at historical Delfshaven . Unfortunately near the windmill (still working) you can see some ugly appartmentblocks, built in the 1970s .

this building can be found at the Havenstraat.It is called âNooit volmaaktâ which is dutch language for âNever Perfectâ.the building is special because it was built the year that the borough Delfshaven was fused with its larger neighbour Rotterdam in 1886 . To show this ,both the weapons of Rotterdam and Delfshaven can be seen on the front ,as well as the two portraits of Erasmus (for Rotterdam) and Piet Hein for Delfshaven.
