Our friends at Qatar Airways are handing out iPads to Cabin Crew. Nice!
TUIFly are the latest airline to invest in iPads as an in-flight entertainment device. Its a shame they couldn't have invested in some training for certain members of their crew on how to put on tie and look smart. D'oh
More Jetstar iPad IFE fun! Some guy from the New Zealand press needs help figuring out how to use the iPad. Luckily there are plenty of tech savvy cabin crew on hand to help him out.
Flybe are the first airline in the UK to get the iPad approved as a Class 2 EFB. Cue pilots and software vendor executives in standard awkward pose. Love it!
...and we're back!
United Airlines showcase their use of the iPad with their pilots. Its great to see that Rebekah Brookes got a job as a pilot after resigning from News International.
Jetstar have finally launched their long awaited IFE iPad rental scheme. Shame that the bespoke cases which include a peripheral battery make them look more like a 1980s laptop than an iPad2
United Airlines Pilot: "Look... I've just calculated that by using iPads as electronic flight bags we will save 16 million sheets of paper and 326 thousand gallons of fuel per year!!"
Flight Attendant: "Yeah, but that's totally offset by the delays caused by you guys slacking off watching episodes of Pan-Am & playing Angry Birds"
If there's one thing I hate to see more than douchebag salesmen wandering around shops with bluetooth headsets still in their ears, its douchebag pilots wandering around shops with their iPads still strapped to their legs...
Having rolled out IFE on iPads, Jetstar get to work on training their cabin crew on how to hold the device whilst looking dreamily and wistfully into the distance... aaah
@Kelbel_25 who "claims" she is a flight attendant with Australian carrier Awesome Air (yeah right) sent us a photo of her iPad. This picture only just qualifies by virtue of the fact that her thumb, which is a very lovely thumb, is just visible….. Hmmm, thanks Kellie, I think. I believe the 25 in her Twitter handle refers to the number of Apple iProducts she owns.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?
we <3 the iPad
Here at Pilots With iPads we love everyone working in aviation and all emerging technology, not just Pilots and iPads. We found some very awkward pictures of the launch of on-board WIFI by Virgin America. Here the passengers look pretty uncomfortable trying to pick up a signal and Virgin's founder Richard Branson.... well he's got a beard. That's awkward.
iPad wielding pilots are featured in the Apple product launch yesterday. Here is Apple's new CEO Tim Cook looking awkward whilst talking about awkward pilots with iPads. Here's the video. Killer moment at 17 minutes 30 seconds. Thanks @BenMosesUK for the link
Request for better captions....
So you think you're funny eh?
Let us know if you've got a better caption to one of our images than our pawltry efforts. We'll post any funnier suggestions... anything less funny will be taken outside and told to buck its ideas up.
Our first community generated content!! (yay)
Tony from our new super best friends Roster Buster pointed us to the Heathrow Winter Resilience Programme which includes the news that gurning BAA staff will be equipped with iPads to provide ecstatic travellers with up-to-the-minute information. We expect the reality to appear slightly different to that which is portrayed in this image. Somebody phone Trading Standards!
