YouTube VS Mainstream Media
There is a MASSIVE difference between what entertainment is on YouTube vs Mainstream Media and it grows more and more every day. I don’t watch much TV anymore and when I do I watch entire series at a time. I’d much rather spend time watching @therealjacksepticeye play video games or @markiplier make videos about Chica eg (ghost dog) or even @caseyneistat @joesugg and Tom make vlogs.
I used to love watching TV as a kid, but YouTube has changed the game and I think in some ways that makes traditional media scared. We have news channels like Phil DeFranco that create that side of media and the above who entertain us... The difference is, YouTubers have a family, that’s their fans... Not where Mainstream media generally have a less straightfoward connection with their fans. YouTubers have the ability to connect in the comments, twitter, Tumblr and more with their fans and in real time react with us after a video goes live.
It must scare traditional media, even a little that YouTube has such a powerful platform to create content on. If I were to spell out every reason I watch more YouTube than Traditional media I’d be here all day. But, I wont bash TM (Traditional Media) 100% I mean come on, Shadowhunters and Doctor Who.........
I digress, YouTube is more personal and thats incredible, to be able to think you can actually speak with the people who write, act, produce and create the videos and they actually make a difference to your life no matter how small....
So thank you Google, thank you YouTube.
