A smile grew on Selena’s face. They had never fully agreed on a name for their child, but Luna was a name they both did like and had considered it as an option. It made her so happy that in her coma Jayce had gone with the only name they had really agreed on while waiting for her to wake up.

 “Papa wasn’t the only reason I woke up dear.” Selena answered with a smile. “I so desperately wanted to see my little girl too.”

 Selena now raised her left arm up to pat Luna’s head. It was then she was able to see what had happened. How half way down her forearm the skin looked the same, but upon closer inspection it could be seen that it was fake. When she willed it the fingers flexed so they were connected to her nerves. 

 “Jayce… Was this a part of the accident..?” Selena asked as a nervousness set into her tone.

—≪🔨≫ “Yes... Yes it was...  There was... A lot of damage done to you. Please... Try to remain calm, my love.” 

      The accident had taken so much from her. She was lucky to be alive... As evident by how long the coma was. All of the research and time and money... It was all worth it now.

      “I’m here for you... We’re, here for you.”

     A hand went to gently rest upon their daughter’s head.

 Four and a half years? Some accident happened that put her to sleep for so long? What had happened? The more she tried to think on it, the more of a headache Selena would get.

 Her mind was pulled back from her attempts to remember by the voice of a child. A young girl.

 Papa..?

 It clicked. She had tested positive for pregnancy during their honeymoon.

 “The little girl… Is she ours my love..? Is our daughter, is our little Luna okay..? She wasn’t born with defects because of this was she?” Selena asked as worry overtook her tone. “Did I ruin her life..?”

—≪🔨≫ “Yes, yes she is. The only defect she has is a dwarf ear. We don’t even know if that was because of your condition, though.”

     He stood, turning to the doorway.

     “Sweetheart, Mama’s awake. Do you want to see her?”

     An eager nod, as the little girl raced over. He helped her crawl up onto the side of the bed, smiling at her.

      “Papa kissed you and woke you up! Just like the fairy tales!”

     If only it had been that easy. When Luna had originally asked him if Selena would wake with a kiss just like Sleeping Beauty... He had told her he would have already kiss her a thousand times over if it would bring her back to him.

“Returned..?” She asked slightly confused. “Darling, what do you mean?” 

With what her will could muster right now Selena gently and slowly stroked his cheek. She could see the emotional pain in his eyes and in the wear on his face. What had happened to put her poor husband into such a state? Her mind went back to the sound of his stumble from before.

 “Are you all right?”

—≪🔨≫ “Sweetheart... You’ve been asleep for four and a half years... There was an accident on our honeymoon.”

      He leaned in, kissing her forehead. It took everything he had not to just immediately cling to her.

     “Papa... Are you okay?”

     A small child appeared at the doorway, clinging to a teddy bear.

     “Luna... It’s alright, don’t worry.”

Selena had been in a coma for four and a half years. A terrible accident had befallen the Piltovian woman, leaving her husband to care for her and their eventual child as one of their nights of passion had resulted in pregnancy. In her slumber she knew nothing of what had changed in these past four and a half years, of the child she bore, of her husband or the prosthetic limbs she now had on three limbs.

 She had slumbered so peacefully all this time, dreaming pleasant dreams. The dormant bride was blissfully unaware of the world around her, but something miraculous was about to happen. Slowly her eyes fluttered open. Selena blinked a few times. Her neck was stiff as she turned her head to look about. This was their bedroom, the room they’d shared before the honeymoon. How did she get here? She went to move her body and found it to be a little too heavy. Why was she feeling so weak?”

 “…ayce!” Selena called weakly. She took a deep breath before trying again. “Jayce!” She called again, hoping for him to hear her. Selena couldn’t bring herself to move very much or well. 

—≪🔨≫”Selena?”

    He jumped up from his chair, snatching the papers from his forehead that had stuck there in his sleeping. He rushed over to her, but not before tripping over the stool he had been sitting on in his haste. He clutched her hand, holding it up to his cheek, tears already streaming down his face.

     “My Diamond... You’ve returned to me?”
