Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted/expected.
- Being a syRAcuse (resident advisor) for the first time to first year students.
- Carrying out all public relations duties for the Northeast Affiliate or College and University Residence Halls (NEACURH) Regional Conference.
- Successfully held one of the most successful NEACURH Regional Conferences EVER with the best conference team. Working with this team for one year was so rewarding.
- Selling the most Chicken and Rice plates EVER in the history of The Supply. The Supply Chapter at Syracuse University completely dominated and I am still so proud of this achievement.
- Organized a “Lecture Series” with The Supply and the most committed e-board. We were able to bring a school director from a Network School in Nairobi to Syracuse University. His wise words, complemented by Chicken’N Rice was superb.
- Learned about the world of consulting and started my first official semester as a student in the School of Information Studies. (iSchool, best school)
- Learned about the power of technology. (Very powerful) (More powerful than I thought) (SO POWERFUL)
- Worked on a case study with seven other students and EY professionals for one semester. (Global Consulting Challenges Program)
- Learned about the complexity of compliance and banking regulations in the European Union .
- Learned the meaning of compliance.
- Created a risk assessment with the seven students mentioned above
- Presented our findings and final recommendations at the EY NYC office to EY partners and managers.
- Completely stepped out of my comfort zone with this project.
- Improved my Photoshop Skills.
- Finally subscribed to Creative Cloud
- Learned how to use InDesign, Illustrator and Lightroom.
-Stayed in a hotel in Time Square. (Amaaaazing)
- Devoured one slice of Lady M’s Green Tea cake. (It was like a little cloud...slowly melting in your mouth...with green tea matcha and all)
- Returned home for Thanksgiving break for three days.
- Went back to Syracuse the day before Thanksgiving for work.
- Experienced my first Thanksgiving without my family.
- Ate pizza on Thanksgiving. Bacon cheers me up no matter what day it is. i was very content.
- Reunited with all of my friends from Day 3.
- Took my first coding class.
- Totally loved my first coding class. I know this because I looked forward to my 8AM class every Monday and Wednesday. Those mornings were pure bliss and the professor was brilliant.
- Explored Washington DC with my cousin
- Became a Teaching Assistant for the coding class that I loved so much second semester.
- Continued learning about web development with a new professor.
- Learned how to make responsive websites.
- Joined the planning committee for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
- Broadened my knowledge on the struggles that so many people around me go through everyday
- Went on my first iSchool Road Trip in Washington DC.
- Fell in love with Washington DC all over again.
- Confirmed my future plans of working in DC one day. One day. I just need to get a job first.
- Learned about an amazing company called 18F.
- Coded and deployed my first website.
- Created a website for a Student Association President/Vice President candidate pair.
- Watched two of the best leaders at Syracuse University become the first multicultural female president/vice president duo. I watched history happen.
- Fell in love with GIlmore Girls and House of Cards all over again.
- Saw 50 Cent and Kygo live.
- Played a piano in the Setnor School of music and watched a talented friend of mine enchant me with her amazing piano playing skills.
- Got accepted to the Study Abroad program in Hong Kong for the Fall Semester.
- Received the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship for my trip to Hong Kong.
- Completed both semesters with rockin GPAs.
- Said more “see you laters” than I wanted to, to the class of 2015.
- Learned so much from old and new friends this year.
- Received a summer internship for the summer of 2016...in June 2015. waahoo.
- Learned that I love making technology easier for people to use...specifically through means of design.
- Worked with the best staff I could possibly ask for at Day Hall.
- Worked with a wonderful Co-RA for the whole year.
- Packed all of my things up and said farewell to Syracuse until 2016.
I met so many incredible people this year and I learned SO SO SO SO much. I am forever thankful for having the opportunity to study at Syracuse University. I am forever grateful for the people in my life who are not afraid to tell me when I am wrong and help push me to my fullest potential. I have no idea of what lays ahead of me in Hong Kong. Cheers to another year of growth, learning, loving, and realizing that everything will be okay. Stay kind and stay awesome.
