DIWHY: Pine

We met Pine when we booked them back in November with Dead Leaves and Born Without Bones, two of our favorites. Pine were the band on the show that had a point to prove playing to a new audience in a different country.

Hailing from the great white north, Pine are a 5 piece ambient emo band. This is a label that you hear very often but there are a few things that set them apart. Darlene’s vocals give a texture and melody that is often lacking when bands go for the ambient sound. Her voice is soothing, powerful and all around beautiful. The guitar parts compliment each other extremely well. Two different parts, at times playing with call and response, but always clear and capturing your attention. Often times when bands attempt the two moving parts, they get lost and sound muddy. This is not the case at all with Pine. They make sense and build to an emotional break.
