Slight change in topic. After reading through a few more books and re-thinking my latest project ideas during my autumn break I realized that painting is not really going to be THE project. I have now changed my material following a new idea. Working with the wire I feel more enabled to do something fabulous with an interpretable meaning behind it. I do feel confident that this might actually be THE project I am going to stay with. We will see.

Hey Ho Peeps, I finally did something!

After realizing that all of my ideas were pretentious sh*t and not entertaining in the slightest I finally got an idea that was worth pursuing. 

I am working on a short film about the way to not make art, essentially documenting my struggle to produce something that can be labeled as ‘art’. 

Now to a recap on what happened during my autumn break: news flash not a lot.

I could not make anything entertaining or happy but since I refused to make a memorial to my sadness I simply laid down and did nothing. However near the end of the break I eventually managed to leave my personal pitty party (oh snap an alliteration) and started to work on the project I mentioned above. 

Now I regret not being productive during my break. But I know I was not my fault and I try to not beat myself up for it. 

What inspired me to make a short film with more plot in it was “Dead Man” by Jim Jarmusch. This film is perfect in every way, I want to marry it.

It’s from 1995 and for once Johnny Depp does not play a ‘weird’ character.

Well to sum it up my break was not eventful but I still managed to come back from the void and started to make a cool short film, awesome!

When your life’s a facade

While I am writing this text I am hearing the song Facade thus the rather strange title. I am currently endorsed in the Discworld and especially interested in Ankh-Morporks Patriarch. The song was in a character playlist on 8Tracks and its been in my head all day. 

Funnily it actually fits the plans I have for my video installation. I bought a plaque mask while I was in Venice last week. It looks a bit like this one:

It will be the face for one of the two main actors in the installation. Recently it occurred to me that my video will probably be much more narrative than I intended it to be but I do not really mind. 

I often remind myself that all these drafts and ideas are worthless if I am not getting my sorry ass up and actually make something out of them... I still procrastinate though. (note to self: more motivation!)

after long vacations i am finally home and can inform you about my thoughts and plans for my project. I am looking forward to concentrate on painting and drawing nature and maybe als scenes i experienced tough out my vacations. it is very important for me to only draw things i really saw and felt, so i took a lot of pictures- or tried to but honestly i hate to take my mobilefone everywhere so most of the time i let others take the pictures. 

I also thought about making categories inside my project and to create several series around different motives.

Hey Leute! Nach fast 6 Wochen Ferien schreibe ich auch mal etwas. Da ich Englisch LK habe und mein Englisch fast schon zu perfekt ist, schreibe ich auf Deutsch. In meinen schönen, aber teilweise auch langweiligen Ferien hatte ich mal mehr, mal weniger Zeit und auch Lust über meine Projektpläne nachzudenken. Ich bin jedoch zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass ich mich von meiner minimalistischen Skulptur abwenden möchte und mich voll und ganz auf die Fotografie zu konzentrieren. Dabei möchte ich mich nicht mehr nur auf Müll in der Umwelt konzentrieren, sondern eher Nahaufnahmen von verschiedenen Dingen machen. Der Stil soll dabei aber gleichbleibend sein. Ich habe auch schon ein paar Fotos gemacht, jedoch möchte ich die hier noch nicht veröffentlichen (wer weiß was die in ein paar Jahren wert sind…).

Ich wünsche allen noch schöne Restferien!

Wild Sea

Since I have been on vacation for the last three weeks, I have had the opportunity to get many different impressions from different surroundings.

During school time I have had the problem of being indecisive and being unable to settle on one project (I am not saying that currently the complete opposite is happing but it seems to be easier for me to focus on one thing at the moment). On the one hand I have a great interest in trees and nature and would have loved to do something with the material wood. All of the ideas I have come up with in my mind were crushed down because in reality I did not have the  adequate means to actually realize them the way I would have wanted to realize them.

My second great interest is painting and that´s something a lot easier to actually produce without having the logistic struggles of for example transporting something about 200 kg heavy.

In Croatia the nature (especially the sea) and the colourful sunsets and sunrises inspired me to focus on natural themes (especially water and sky).

Later on when I visited the “Staatsgalerie” in Stuttgart my decision was (amongst others) underpinned by one painting I saw by Emil Nolde named “Calm Sea” from 1936.

Once back home, I went to the library and am currently going through a few books (and DVDs) concerning specific artists and their works. Most of those artist who have inspired me, have different impressionistic and expressionistic elements in their works.

My next step will be experimenting with oil and acryl and deciding which one of them I will be using for my paintings.

hey everyone

Sooo about my project..... I want to make clay sculpture which represent different emotions. It is not decided yet how many sculptures i am going to make or which emotion they are going to represent. 

I have completed two so far since I somehow lost my inspiration. Besides I am not really content with them as they lack detail and I have problems with the facial expression. 

My individual tag will be #unnamedproject becaus I am absolutely not creative when it comes to naming things.

Only two weeks late but heeey...

Yeah sorry for the delay, the original post was rotting in the queue but here I finally am!

So about this blog. Even though this is the first post on it we actually already reached a tumblr-milestone because the first porn-blog is following us, hurray! But seriously these spam-blogs are really getting out of hand.

Also please excuse my excessive use of GIFs, I just cannot help it.

An important note! I’d like this blog to have a tagging system therefore general post will be tagged with #pinkupdate and every member will have an individual tag which they can choose. 

Mine will be #sillyproject  I am probably going to post some bits and pieces of my work progress later this week :)

A few words on my creative progress are under the cut!

So I tried really hard to come up with good ideas... well that didn’t work out as planned. Whenever I had a good idea I eventually gave up on it because I had no idea how to produce it. I always had either not enough people or no costumes or not the right props to visualize the video in the way I want it -.- 

I got so frustrated I actually started to learn how to cook because I wanted to clear my mind and do something else.

Nevertheless I actually did get inspired a lot by very creative videos such as:

The “Don’t hug me I’m scared” series. I especially love the way their costumes are made.

And “Kick the PJ” who has a very distinctive video style. All his videos have a pretty DIY vibe and often use mixed media. 

I am gonna post again when I am out of this creative void...
