the sun shone brightly down onto the two of you, a nice comfortable breeze blowing through the air. you had seen the weather reports had called for a nice afternoon, suggesting to your boyfriend that the two of you should finally sit in the outside dining area of your favorite restaurant.
he ordered his usual, the same pasta dish he got every time the two of you would come. you had decided to change things up, wanting to try the salad that sounded good on the menu.
it was good, but not necessarily what you were in the mood for. you would’ve much rather had your favorite off the menu instead of trying something new. oscar was quick to pick up on that when you poked the greens with your fork, a neutral expression on your face as you leaned your head on your hand.
he saw the subtle glances you took towards his dish and how it looked so much better than the flavorless plate in front of you.
“how’s the salad?” he asked, putting his fork down to take a sip of water from the glass, condensation dripping from the bottom and onto the white table cloth.
you shrugged, “‘s alright,”
“want to try the pasta?”
you nodded, smiling softly when he brought his fork to your mouth for you to try. you hummed, nodding as you finally understood why it quickly became his favorite dish.
“that’s really good.”
“i know, right?”
you continued your conversation for a little while, the whole time not touching your food. he didn’t say anything, just slid the rest of his remaining pasta towards you and taking the plate of greens from your side. you studied his movements with a confused face but he stayed silent as he placed the plate that was once yours in front himself.
you smiled towards the plate as you twirled the pasta onto your fork, picking your head up to meet his eyes as he smiled at you, mouth full of kale and lettuce.
“have i ever told you how much i love you?”
he hummed as he pretended to think about it. you swatted at his arm playfully, the two of you laughing.
“i love you too,” he smiled, “i don’t give up my lunch to just anyone, y’know.”

he doesn’t mind when he sees you placing your phone on the table to record, and he cares even less when you ask him to raise his arms.
it takes him a moment to process when he feels your soft lips press against his, your hands holding his cheeks — he lets out a long sigh as his arms slide down to your waist, drawing you into him.
your little giggles fill the kitchen while he lingers there for a second, forehead resting against yours, phone now forgotten by both of you. a soft smile tugs at his lips before he lets out a quiet laugh, shaking his head like he can’t believe how easily you got him.
oscar’s attention went to you as you plopped down next to him on the couch, wearing one of his hoodies that he had to admit looks better on you.
“and what's that?”, he asked softly, seeing how your hands were hidden behind your back.
“it’s simple,” you started, your cheeks heating up from all the attention you got from oscar, “and you don’t have to use it if don-”
your words were cut off when the pilot squeezed one of your cheek.
“you know i will love it”, he said thinking it was cute how shy you were, an unfamiliar behavior from you around him.
"ta-da”, in your hands were two bracelets, both with black beads but two white beads standing out in the middle — one with a red heart and the other with your initials, “i would use yours initial and you mine”.
oscar wanted to die right there. you literally had the biggest smile on your face waiting for his reaction, it hurt him how cute you were.
he pulled you into a hug, pulling away only to pepper your face with kisses — your giggles echoing in the apartment.
“i love it”, he said after a while, the two of you now lying on the couch, his hands scratching your back. “i’m gonna use it everyday”.
My sisters and my mom were definitely the instigators of the holiday stuff. Again, I was just the eater of the cakes, eater of the gingerbread houses, destroyer of the houses.
