If you’re reading this far then: no bigotry, racism, ableism, or conservatism or right-wing adjacent ideals is allowed on my blog. I believe in equal rights, Palestine, LGBTQIA+, free healthcare, feminism, abortion, and more (to name a few). This should be obvious— as I believe we need to treat others as human beings. Can I request Tamsy with the prompt: "You can't get rid of me that easily." Hehe

Tamsy x Fem!Reader - reader is a Giver, a mortician, and whose vital instrument is a scalpel turned scythe
Warnings: Tamsy is his own warning, obsessive, stalking, yandere if you squint, mentions of anatomy as reader is a mortician (nothing too descriptive just be aware), hints at manga spoilers

~:/:/:/:~
You inhale the sharp tang of bleach and formaldehyde the moment you step through the mortuary’s double doors, a scent so familiar it feels like the walls themselves are breathing it back at you. Your gloved fingers tighten around your scalpel’s cold stainless-steel handle. With every precise incision, the blade parts pale flesh like silk, revealing the quiet architecture beneath: neat rows of veins, the shining ivory of rib, the soft give of muscle. The hum of fluorescent tubes overhead casts a clinical glare, but you prefer it— no shadows hiding here, only clean lines and order.
Then you sense him before you see him: a height that crates the door, a wash of gold-and-blue hair catching stray light as if he’s illuminated from within. He edges into your peripheral vision— always watching, always patient, like a predator waiting to close in. A shiver snakes down your spine, equal parts dread and something you can’t name, as though electricity crackles between you both.
The people in town call you the Lady of Death, a crown you wear in whispered reverence and fear. Corpses don’t gossip or sneer; they lie silent beneath your hands, and you prefer it that way. Yet your left leg, once wholly operational until a trash beast’s jagged claws raked across it, twitches with a dull ache. You remember the creature’s festering spikes matted with decay, its hollowed ‘eyes’ wild as it tried to pry your bone from your marrow like some grotesque suitor coveting a prize. With your scalpel turned into a vital instrument, a long and beautiful scythe, you were able to hold it off until Cleaners passing by saved you. You swallow a shudder at the memory.
At least it did not prevent you from continuing your work.
Under the stark lights, long dark silhouettes stretch across the tiled floor, converging where you stand bent over a chest cavity. Your scalpel flashes, carving away the stubborn skin, gliding along the sternum’s edge. The scent of damp linen and antiseptic mixes with the faint metallic tang of old blood. Your heartbeat is a slow drum, matching the drip of embalming fluid into a pail at your feet.
Nights blur in this hush, measured by the ticking of a wall clock and the echo of your own breath. Then Tamsy slips into your world, turning the stillness inside out. The first time you see him, it’s at a dimly lit bar on a rainy evening, a night you were forced out with your coworkers: he leans against the polished mahogany with that same impossible poise, swirling amber liquid in a crystal glass. His gold-ringed eyes lift to you over the rim; they’re too curious, too fond. He speaks in a clipped, lilting tone that makes every word feel custom-tailored, and you can’t decide if you want to laugh or run.
Later on, outside the Giver headquarters— a mass of concrete block you pass by on occasion for business— he emerges from a side entrance as though summoned. The scent of damp stone and wind-whipped shampoo clings to him. Each time he appears, you catch a flash of those knowing eyes, calculating and strangely intimate, as if he’s mapping you out like one of your cadavers.
He approaches you after you finish a report on Cleaners who will receive a burial at your business, Tamsy holding an antique scale cradled in gloved hands. Its brass plates are etched with ivy tendrils, and its mechanism moves with the soft click of centuries-old hinges. “This would suit your collection,” he murmurs, voice soft as velvet. “And you needn’t ask where it came from.” The scale’s weight in his hand is indisputably precious, though stolen, you suspect— and it makes your chest tighten.
“How do you know what I keep?” you demanded then, fingers tightening around your coat lapel. You keep your voice even as always, there was no need to lay out grievances to a man you had no qualms with. He only smiles, that maddening half-curve that promises secrets.
But today, with him invading your work, the air grows taut. Your tools lining a steel tray gleam beneath his scrutiny. Heart hammering, you sheet a body’s arms at the shoulder, coaxing them into place. He hovers in the doorway, eyes tracing the curve of your favorite scalpel.
“So this is where the magic happens,” he purrs, voice echoing off the tiled walls. “Such exquisite artistry.”
Your jaw clenches. Beneath your professional mask, adrenaline surges; half fear, half something darker. You pivot the cadaver to hide your trembling hand, stealing glances at him: the way his coat hangs loose, how the fluorescent light crowns his hair like a halo gone awry.
As you stitch a wound closed, he leans against a counter, fingertips tracing the rim of a forceps as though afraid to touch. “You fell from the Sphere, didn’t you?” he says suddenly, eyes alight. “I can see it in your stance.” Your fingers freeze in mid-stitch, eventually placing them down altogether.
“How—” you begin, voice brittle.
His index finger lifts to his lips in a single, deliberate shush. The tip of his nail glints unnaturally. “Don’t trouble your pretty little head.” He steps forward. “I know enough to keep it between us, yes?”
His posture is unhurried as he moves around to stand in front of you. His warm palm covers yours, and you taste copper on your tongue. “I’d hate to see you on this table instead of... these others.” A veiled threat you understood perfectly.
Your breath catches. He circles you, each soft-footed stride pulling you further into a web of fascination and fear. The overhead lights stutter, shadows flickering across his face.
“Confess,” he whispers, voice low, a cascade of silk that sends gooseflesh racing across your skin. “The nobles framed you. They feared your brilliance.” He stops close enough for you to feel the electric pulse in his shirt. “But I know the truth.”
His grip on your hands tightens as he leans closer, enveloping you in an intoxicatingly bizarre aura. “If all goes to plan,” he murmurs softly, “at the end of this, I’ll take you there with me, as my bride.”
Before you can answer, he leans in and, with an almost casual cruelty, sinks his teeth into your left ring finger. The crack of bone is loud in the hush. You gasp, tear-bright eyes locked on his elated grin as blood wells around his lips. You wrench your hand free, distant, yet you cannot look away.
He withdraws, blood staining his lips as he chuckles— light, triumphant, completely unhinged. You stand frozen, staring at him in horror as he chuckles, the sound light and jovial.
“You can’t rid yourself of me so easily, darling.” His voice echoes off the walls, you realize he has woven you into his web; and there, you are more conflicted than ever before.
using taro to theorize is really cool! what does it say about tamsys ability to fall in love and what that looks like? thanks
Absolutely. Let’s go 🙏
(Posted the reading w/o pictures because Tumblr and my internet hate me right now)
Side note: I really loathe internet definitions for each individual card, because when they’re put together with other cards in a spread, tarot tells a story. And I think that’s important to remember when reading.
TL;DR bro hates vulnerability to absolutely no one’s surprise but yes, he can and has the ability to feel romantic love towards someone. And I do not believe he would just use and dump you once you outlive your usefulness. You’re useful to him because of how much turmoil you make him feel inwardly. Tamsy is not the kind to even let you that close to begin with, even if just to use you. Romantic feelings and relationships could prove useful to his plans, sure, but it’s too risky to try or deal with the fallout. I think that makes gaining his affection scarier— because you will know it’s genuine.
Also, realistically, he’d either (most likely option) feel absolutely nothing towards a reader, just like how he is to everyone else.
Or, he would slowly start to be intrigued and obsessed. After all, everyone is a means to an end to this guy, but like I’ve stated previously, it takes a very specific type of person to gain and keep his interest— in a way that has the potential to turn romantic. He’s very all or nothing in that regard. Not someone you want interested in you lmao
“Can Tamsy feel love? What does that look like?”
3 of Pentacles Reversed (interesting this is the second time this came up for him), Ten of Swords Reversed, Ace of Pentacles, Wheel of Fortune Reversed
Yes, he can feel romantic love. This is pre-relationship. He does not want a relationship; it’s a distraction and he has no interest—it’s risky and messy—but that doesn’t take away from emotions that you bring out of him. It’s toxic and very inward, though. On the outside this is not something that would be shown, or would be shown very little. Again, it’s an upward battle of vulnerability with this guy. He despises it. But it’s something he would inevitably learn to do for you and ONLY you. You would get special privileges as, most likely, the only person who matters to him (minus Rudo, ofc) and in a very different way. In a You & Him vs. The World kind of way. If that makes sense. It would be far from healthy, though. He’s quirky like that.
Ten of Swords in reverse signifies trauma and healing (so many theories on his backstory oowghhhah), Ace of Pentacles slapped in the middle there he sees love as an opportunity (shocker), but with Wheel of Fortune in reverse it’s like he’s hesitant and overwhelmed at how much you make him feel; he eventually succumbs to it, but external forces outside of his control (or even another group) make it difficult to move forward. He would get addicted to the feeling without giving up who he is or his goals.
He’s a weird, complicated little guy. Very much a fallen angel.
Clarifying cards used: King of Swords, Page of Pentacles, 2 of Pentacles in reverse. These just reaffirm what the above says.
what do you think tamsys goal is if you dont mind me asking?
If we are taking just him and his own personal goals into account, I believe he wants to burn it all down and remake some sort of new world. I think his disdain and spite for the Sphere is genuine.
If we take his twisted goal to push Rudo over the edge into play, then it could tie into my first theory of remaking the world and getting revenge; or Tamsy is related/knows Rudo and Regto and wants to see the Surebrec family go down a path of total destruction and annihilation. It would hit two birds with one stone; Tamsy’s self-efficacy could be vindicated through Rudo wittingly or unwittingly destroying the world, while perhaps getting revenge on both Sphere and the Surebrecs.
I could be totally wrong, we just don’t know the full extent of Tamsy’s beef with Rudo and the Sphere yet lol
I love your tamsy hcs I just think he would crash out big time if anyone even suspected his secrets lol
Hi anon! Thank you for the ask.
Oh absolutely. I definitely agree with you. And the great thing about headcanons is that they can easily be disagreed with!
I’ve seen so many takes of his character as a purely black and white evil guy that it’s starting to get annoying and insulting to him as a character lol
The problem with Tamsy is—- we really just truly do not have enough to fully grasp why he is the way he is, what his true goals are, and all the whys in between. He does not have remorse, doesn’t really care about people, and has such a twisted sense of love towards pushing Rudo to the brink of insanity that it’s easy to go “whoop he’s doomed and would never genuinely care about anyone.” I’ve seen so many takes of his character being a one-sided villain who would be awful and nasty and purely abusive to a partner and I just disagree with that. Again, the beauty of headcanons! However, I just think it is reducing his character down to something black and white, and while it is a valid assumption, we still don’t have enough to fully go off of. While he’d be far from healthy, I feel he’s so multi-layered that my own headcanons and analysis don’t do him justice.
If anyone suspects his secrets I do absolutely agree he would crash out BIGLY. But he’s weird and mentally unwell and I think his rationale would be “if I can’t beat them, then they WILL join ME!” Or something along those lines. A part of me truly believes he is a victim of the Sphere and it has shaped him into something horrific (not a defense, he absolutely is in control of his own actions as a grown adult). He’d violently despise Readers and if, over time, they don’t seem like they’re going to try and “fix” him, then the “hate” will still be there but it’ll shift more into obsession. Which is why I think attracting Tamsy’s attention is the worst thing in the entire world that could ever possibly happen. He’s weird and will stalk and will try to manipulate even if a reader knows or suspects, because there’s not much else he can lose, yknow? I don’t think he would go “fuck it” and just burn everything down if they only just knew — if they knew and don’t say a peep, then again he’s keeping them by his side. He’d almost see it like a duty to put a leash on them and in a weird way, I think he’d admire their respect. But only after a looooong time. I don’t think his suspicion would ever fully dissipate.
Gaining his attention is such a dangerous thing. Like, I cannot preface that enough lol. And it would take a very specific type of person to do this, so pray that it isn’t you lol. Not only would it be exhausting to keep up with his mind games, it would absolutely turn into obsession. He would be obsessed with you. If anything were to happen to his little spy and scapegoat (reader/you), then he would 110000% burn everything down. Point blank. You would cause a myriad of emotions to stir inside of him that, even if it’s super unhealthy, he’d become addicted to it and want to savor the feelings you bring out. No matter how uncomfortable it is, I don’t believe he’s one to just off someone who invokes the closest thing to actual “love” he starts to feel. (Which is a very common theme I keep seeing in people’s takes on him with reader-inserts)
I do hope Tamsy gets his ass beat, though. Genuinely. He needs a thorough humbling in the future and maybe then he can have a really cool character arc. Or not. I like pure unashamed villains too. Either way, I look forward to seeing how his character and story will pan out.
Threw some tarot cards as a little treat. I did this for unreleased gacha characters pre-Fontaine in Genshin and it freaked me out how accurate it was. Eh, but either way, just for fun. We’ll see how that little freak’s story goes.
(King of Swords, 4 of Pentacles, and 3 of Pentacles - a self assured person able to separate head and heart (inner vs outer Tamsy) and knows how to utilize/manipulate teamwork as needed to get to where he wants— nothing we don’t already know)
(2nd pic): 4 of Wands, 6 of Pentacles reversed, Ace of Swords - there’s a lot going on with him and he truly believes in what he’s building toward but is underneath all of his aspects beginning to lose himself in the mire; I suspect there’s outer influence such as other Spherite higher-ups but ultimately Tamsy has the wherewithal to find the truth — this would coincide with my theory he’s also being used and manipulated)
I would love to see your thoughts on Tamsy's psychology 👀💚
Tamsy Headcanons - A Full Study
Includes: General, Pre-Relationship, Relationship (SFW)
**Also includes: Manga spoilers**
Warnings: Tamsy Caines, manipulation, toxicity, Tamsy, mind games, mentions of trauma/abuse (more like my headcanons as to why he’s the way he is), mentions of killing, possessiveness, Tamsy, suggestiveness (nothing explicit), Tamsy, and Tamsy Caines. It'll be interesting to see how this ages.

General
First things first, Tamsy is an extremely complex character from what little we do see about him. Whether it’s the persona he puts on to lure people into a false sense of security, or the complexities surrounding who he is with snippets of Inner Tamsy, this study will cover everything we know alongside things I personally theorize. This study is not meant to condone his questionable or reprehensible actions, but meant to study them in a way that makes sense to readers. As a reminder, these are just that — headcanons, and while we still have yet to know the full story behind the how and the why, it’s still fun to poke around his brain a bit.
It's very likely that Tamsy is an important figurehead on the Sphere, where we see him walking down a long pathway connecting to a massive, regal building intricately designed and full of grandeur. Upon zooming in, you can see Tamsy missing his labret piercing and holding a satchel in his left hand. He does not appear to be happy. While this apparent lack of emotion may simply be a design choice, it seems to hold more cadence to his disdain for the Sphere and all its rules. And we can assume he travels on the Ground for a number of reasons; to spy, to manipulate, but mostly -- to cause Rudo to break out of his shell, as directly stated to the audience in the manga. Perhaps Tamsy wants to see humanity transcend? Have Rudo be the catalyst that destroys Ground and Sphere? We don't know, but we do know he has a warped sense of duty and seems to (very obviously) mix up immoral acts as "love." Who is Rudo to Tamsy? An experiment? A relative? Both? Either way, it all paints a very interesting picture as to Tamsy's own psychology.
If he is indeed a human, I'm of the belief he was brainwashed young and severely abused for questioning the flow of things up in the Sphere. Now, let me preface, this does not excuse his actions, merely explains them. The scars on his body and missing half thumb lead me to believe he was a curious, rebellious kid who asked too many questions and got into things he wasn't supposed to. His vital instrument and dislikes section makes me curious if he doesn't have mommy issues but I digress.
Pre-Relationship
So, contrary to popular belief, I do think Tamsy is indeed capable of love. It’s kind of his whole thing, so even if it definitely wouldn’t fall in a healthy category, he’s a very emotional person who would be devoted and even obsessive.
But first, they have to get his attention. And getting Tamsy Caines’ attention is the last thing you want to do.
As fun as it is in theory, a quiet and naive little mouse is fun to chase, sure, but Tamsy craves a bit more stimulation than someone who is oblivious to who he is. While he prides himself on his persona of a kind and thoughtful teammate to the Cleaners, he secretly snickers at just how dumb and clueless they all are.
He has a hunch that Corvus and Semiu know, but he shrugs it off— it makes the game more fun.
He’d hate for anyone to know who he is or what he’s done, but at the same time, the thrill and idea of it fills him with glee. He’s a very complex and conflicting person— I do think the duality his design represents with two colors also plays into this.
He has suppressed Inner Tamsy — his true self — for a long, long time. He’s used to putting on a kind, regal face (likely taught to him on the Sphere), while rolling his eyes inwardly and desiring nothing more than to give into his whims and rebellion. He’s anything if not patient.
When someone comes into his life and silently questions everything he’s known, he freezes. Whether or not you actually know or show your hand of cards, he’s immediately intrigued. He’s terrified and thrilled, elated and disgusted.
It’s even better if you leave breadcrumbs that you do know his secrets; in which, for anyone paying attention, it isn’t hard to feel Tamsy’s eerie gaze or the fact there’s just something off about him.
It’s funny because you have absolutely no idea how much you affect him. Or maybe, you do, either way— Tamsy all but spirals. He abhors it, he loves it. If you are kind and show genuine interest and care about him despite it all, he sneers at it inwardly, but there’s the faintest hint that hmm.. maybe you are also being genuine? How interesting.
As stated, he’s been misunderstood and claims he no longer needs pity or is above such emotion— but you drag that genuine desire to be understood out of him again that it’s impossible to ignore.
He’s going to be kept up at night, wondering when the right time it is to use his book on you. But he’s fighting you see; he absolutely loves the push and pull, so to erase your memories would undo all of that and end the game prematurely. Ultimately, he decides you’re a liability… but you’re his liability. His…. His, his, his. Hmm. The idea grows on him.
In his bed at night he grips his chest and lays awake when he has nowhere to be. You torment him, truly. And you have no idea. It’s gross how much you cause his emotions to be so turbulent, can’t you just stay go away like the rest? Why don’t you look at him with disdain love and reject accept him for who he is and what he’s done? He really, really doesn’t get you… and he does doesn’t want to. He slowly starts to realize just how much he hates loves you. And you’re none the wiser.
It’s not long before a flip switches in Tamsy and he nearly attaches him to your side. On missions, in groups, in town. You will be by his side. He’s already made sure of it. You don’t get a choice, so take responsibility for gaining his attention.
Relationship
A relationship means vulnerability, it means letting someone see all the shards you have holding you together and letting them decide whether they stay or go.
Tamsy never wants to let anyone that close. Only arms length. Forever, if he could.
It’s a contradiction, as usual, to how he behaves around you. Yes, he does see you as a liability he must keep a leash on, so of course he’s not letting you leave his sight. But at the same time, you’re a catalyst to intense feelings he quickly becomes addicted to. Sweets, thrills, rebellion… these all blend together with the stimulus you provide by simply existing in his life.
He’s weird and seems like he wouldn’t be jealous, but well… he is. Severely. He is not above killing those he views as a threat, particularly if they make you uncomfortable or threaten your safety. He doesn’t like sharing his things, so don’t even bother to test him unless you don’t want to walk straight for the next week. He will very quickly correct you and each time will be more severe than the last.
Tamsy is clingy and physical. He constantly asks how you are, where you’re going, why, etc. He has you at his side with an arm around you frequently. He loves to wrap his arms around you from behind and nose at your neck— endearing and vulnerable, your carotid artery is right there for him to sink his teeth into. He loves tracing every pattern on your skin, memorizing your scent, your likes and dislikes, what provides you with the most intense emotions and he’ll push your buttons to get reactions. It’s cute, and gross, and funny. But he hates you and he loves you and you’re his stupid little toy he needs the upper hand on. Even if you constantly battle for control, show you’re his intellectual equal, he’s laughing and cooing at you that the two of you are perfect matches; but he’ll never quite view you as equal. Not like other people.
You’re equal to his freak, sure, you’re equal in gender maybe, you’re equal physically, emotionally, intellectually, etc. but he will never view you as someone who is just like him. In fact, he greatly detests the idea. But not out of an insult for you — he does not want to be with someone like him. For as confident as he is, he does hold much contempt for himself and who he is, alongside the actions he’s taken to justify the means to an end.
He wants you to be your own person, not pragmatic and messed up like he is. However, I do not believe it would take long in a relationship with Tamsy, sticking by his side and earning the faintest bit of trust, before he puts you on a pedestal above even himself.
Now, it will not interfere with his plans to push Rudo’s limits. You’re simply a side variable he keeps separate from his scheming; even if you know all about it. He did not think a distraction like you could ever be beneficial, but you do give him the reason to continue with breakneck speed.
In fact, what could be better than remaking a new world, gaining revenge, and watching where the two of you rule it together? He’s kicking his feet and sighing wistfully at the thought. He hates loves you so much ❤️
If Tamsy is indeed a prince or ruler of some kind, he even factors in the possibility of bringing you with him up to the Sphere, placating those in charge and declaring you as his spouse. It would solidify his position while further bolting you to him.
Even if you don’t agree with his ideals or methods, he throws it back at you: you’re still with him, right? And if you leave… well you knew the risks. It’s a funny thought to him; because it definitely won’t happen.
He will pin you against a wall, a bed, furniture, anything, and kiss you like a starved man. He shameless and loud and oh-so giddy to have you consume his senses as he devours your own. If he could meld himself together with you he would. He giggles and tells you that you aren’t going anywhere, that he’s all you need and throws back any argument you have for him with a calm, placating counterpoint. He’ll bombard you with physical affection and distract you endlessly each night until his name is all that leaves your lips if that’s what it takes.
If you’ve gotten this far with Tamsy, you should know a fallen angel like him does not let things go. You, as his most prized possession, should know better than to question your place anywhere except at his side.
Guys. Let me emphasize that because Tamsy really does not care for other people, aside Rudo in that twisted way, you would NOT under any circumstances, want to gain his attention. Because you would become his total and utter obsession.
