TEENAGE LOVE TRIANGLE THEORY:

Okay hear me out, the three songs Taylor was talking about in 3 different perspectives at 3 different times are the songs Cardigan, August, and Betty.

Cardigan: cardigan is told from Betty’s perspective. She is singing about how she had such a deep love for her person but he (or she I guess!) ruined the relationship by chasing two girls and lost her.

August: August is written from the other girls (or I guess it could be male as well!) perspective! In August this person fell for Betty’s significant other and they had an August affair together, and she/he kept holding out hope that they would break up with Betty for them, but the August was never really theirs. So this song is written by the “other woman” (other person)

Betty: Betty is written from the significant others perspective after he/she figures out that Betty was the one the whole time but it’s too late because fucking Inez saw the affair (behind the mall perhaps!) and when he/she goes to apologize to Betty they are scared she might just tell them to fuck off. They also state that “I hope you believe me when I say it was just a summer fling” AKA August !
