“Hey.” Pippa opened the door, surprised because she didn’t really expect to see him. Bethany was watching a movie in the next room. “You’re back?” She paused and then shifted aside after realising she’d been blocking the door instincively. “Sorry, want to come in?”

Brent wanted to make sure this way real. She was really here and she was and he wasn’t dreaming. Like he often did of her. Looking back at her, his hand moved to start going through her hair. “What happened? What did Allan do? Is Bethany okay? Are you okay?”
Pippa couldn’t really believe she was here, and he was in front of her, and he didn’t look angry. God, he should be angry with her, she hadn’t had any backbone after all. She shook her head. “Allan.. he wasn’t there, Brent... it was a lie, it was... my dad... he took me and Bethany away, I didn’t want to go, he used her against me...” Was she even making sense? She’d really hoped someone would realise she wouldn’t just take off but at least she had gotten out. “He hit her, I... I hit him back... we came home.” She reached up and wiped her eyes briefly. “She’s fine, she’s at mum’s...”

Brent honestly missed her. Every day, even if some days were busy ones she always came into his mind. Pippa. Which is why he was taking a walk right now. He was doing his best to get into the right frame of mind of his patients this afternoon. But he stopped the moment that he saw her. At first he thought she was in his head. Closing his eyes, he rubbed them for a moment before moving his hands and reopening his eyes. That was when he realized she was real. Back in Baberton. And not with Allan. He met her half way. Before he could stop himself, he leaned in and kissed her lips briefly. Pulling away slightly after a few moments. “Pippa…”
Pipppa could hardly believe it when the first thing he did was kiss her. She kissed back, her stomach twisting at just how much she had missed him. When he pulled back, she opened her eyes and looked up at him, shaking her head. “I... I’m so sorry..” She knew she’d made that call to him but it had been a lie and she didn’t even know if he could forgive her, though the kiss gave her some sort of hope.

As startled as she should have been by the sudden appearance of a person, honestly Liz was numb and could have cared less if Pippa had been a murderer. Nothing really mattered anyway right now. She gave the smallest of smiles and shook her head slightly. “You are sweet… but what I need cannot be given…” She tossed her shoulder up into a shrug. She looked Pippa over, taking her in. She barely knew her, but she knew that she had worked for the newsagent and had disappeared. She didn’t know what had happened there because she hadn’t been involved enough in the business. Now, she imagined she would need to be a little more involved. Maybe it would give her an outlet? “–you are back in town.”
Pippa bit her lip worriedly as she looked back at the woman. She wondered if she should have just left her alone, the words she said in response kind of hitting a part of her that made her feel worse. Of course she couldn’t help. The woman had lost her husband. “Uh, yeah...” Pippa nodded, deciding to just go with the change in topic. Whatever Liz wanted, right? “I... wasn’t supposed to leave in the first place.” She said and then realised it sounded strange. Pippa was honestly still processing and trying to figure out what to say to people. “Do you want some tea?” Not that she should just invite herself into someone else’s kitchen but some nice warm tea could be good, right?

She had begged Brooke to quit joking. It wasn’t funny and she was right. It certainly wasn’t funny, but it hadn’t been a joke either. It felt like absolutely nothing would be okay ever again. She hadn’t stopped crying in days and it hurt to just breathe. How did one continue living when their whole entire world had died? She would sleep and dream of him. Things would be okay for a moment and then she would wake up to an empty bed. The memories would come back. She would pick up her pillow and scream into it until her lungs felt like they were on fire. She had sat on her knees and begged God to wake up from this nightmare.
It felt as if people were always in her house. She knew most of them meant well, but she didn’t have it in her to entertain anyone. She was practically a zombie between the valium the doctor had given her and the emotional anguish. She was hiding away, sitting at Richard’s desk. Her eyes were fixed on a picture on his desk. Her arms had been wrapped around his and the genuine love on both of their faces. A ghost of a smile had stretched at the corners of her lips, living back in that memory. I love you, Liz. “I love you, Rich…” Someone else’s voice had brought her back out to the real world and she flinched. Her eyes moved toward the door. “W-what?”
Honestly, Pippa had stopped by the newsagents to see if Richard was in so she could ask for her job back, or see if Ella was around to pass on the message at least. The place had been locked up though, which she had found strange, and Pippa had been very confused until she’d run into somebody she knew and they told her what had happened to Richard. It was so sad and Pippa found herself hopping on a bus to the Ford home. She stood outside for a few minutes, feeling awkward, like maybe it’s not her place but she wanted to at least show her respects so she moved up to the front door and knocked... no answer.
Pippa would have figured there was no one home, simple as that, but there was a car in the driveway. Granted, maybe it was Richard’s but... it looked like lights were on? She didn’t know why but she did move to try the door, surprised when it opened. She at least had to see if everything was okay, didn’t she? “Hello?” Pippa called carefully, stepping inside and closing the door. When she finally found Liz. “--are you alright?” A stupid question, she knew. Not that Liz heard her. When she finally did look up and noticed she was there, Pippa wished there was more she could do for her. “I was just... checking in on you. The, uh.. the door was open. Do you need anything?”

“Do you think anyone would noticed? I mean, it’s a good idea. I just don’t want a big ordeal with my neighbour.” She chuckled.
“Sounds like your neighbour is the problem if they’d take issue to one little nail.” She chuckled. “But no I’m sure it wouldn’t be noticeable at all.”

“Thanks, I’m glad I’m not the only one putting them up late. I’m just trying to figure how and what I’m going to do to get that one piece to not be lingered down.”
“Maybe you could try putting a nail underneath a bit in a way where it could sort of rest on top and not be so down? I dunno.”
