SORRY FOR BEING UNACTIVE.
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
Pippy relaxed herself, trying to forget what she just did. She was in pain, she tried to breathe but It was getting harder and harder from her sobbing so much. âI wanted to use a quieter weapon, I knew I should have. There was nothing else to useâ She said crossing her arms, wanting to get back to the prison right now. âWe all have to do it at some point, donât be sorryâ Â Pippy said looking outside and staring at the birds. âYeah, we were a nice family once. Before those things came along, now theyâre all dead. Except me, Ironic. I thought I was going to die first but It turns out I died lastâ She sobbed. âWeâre almost thereâ She said looking at the prison from afar, âThank godâ. âHave you ever lost anybody like that before?â She asked as they were getting closer and closer to the prison.Â
"Yeah, but you shouldnât have had to do it like that. I know how it feels to put your own siblinâ down. Takes guts, kid, and you did it." Daryl himself didnât know if he was praising the girl or just telling her he understood. "You ainât dead yet, Pips. Youâre still alive and kickinâ as far as Iâm concerned." He listened to her story quietly, pulling into the prison yard. Heâd kept his promise, not only the one heâd made to her, but also the one heâd made to himself - to make sure she got back safely.
The question caught him off guard, and it took a few long moments before he could find the right words. âYeah, I did. Iâve lost a lot of people. Donât know why it keeps happeninâ, but it does. Jusâ wish I could keep everybody safeâŠ. But itâs not a one man job.â
Pippy listened as the man seemed to praise her and smiled, ''We're home'' She said pulling the door handle and jumping out. They were walking towards the prison gates when a walker appeared out of nowhere and Daryl didn't notice it before it was close to biting him. Pippy quickly grabbed out her gun and shot it. ''Are you okay?'' She asked, hoping for the man not to be bitten or anything like that. Carl, Rick's boy ran over and opened up the prison gate for us. Pippy didn't like him, not very much. She barged past him, waiting for the older man to follow behind. ''Well, I wanted to say thank you- for everything, you're a good person and I hope we could do this again sometime'' She smiled, ''See ya' soon'' She said walking away before stopping by the small farm Rick built by hand. ''Be safe''.Â
A restart, maybe?
Since we keep loosing members (and then gain one new before losing them again) I thought it might be smart to restart this group. People probably find it very difficult to become a part of the group, since they donât know exactly where we stand with this group.Â
Perhaps we should start from the point after the Prison War? (No Governor, no Meghan, no Hershel *cry* but heâd be the Admin-mascot) You would have to modify everything a little bit, but that shouldnât be too hard. Weâd have new groups and locations, but I think we could make this work. Hate/Love/Ideas?Â
( Ooc- Hhm, I'm not too sure. I think we should have events like stated on the other page, meaning we let the characters live up until the time they're supposed to die in the show.?)
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
She wiped away her tears and put her hands together and rubbed them nervously. âIâm so sorry, I really am. Weâve gotta go before more come!â She said turning on the car, In a hurry. âI got what I got for now we can go. I didnât get bitten, Iâm alright, donât worry about me. Worry about yourselfâ She spoke in a high pitchy voice. âTheyâre dangerous, but they have to be done and Itâs just the way it is. It really isâ She said looking out the windows and seeing the walkers come closer and closer, then eventually as one almost got as close as the window Daryl fleeâd in the car with Pippy. âThank god, I thought we were going to be stuck there, aloneâ She said nervously, âIâm so sorry, I didnât mean for this to happen. I just needed to get this, Itâs dangerous but I needed toâ Pippy sighed and smiled, âThis is my familyâ Pippy said showing Daryl the picture of her family which was covered in dust. âItâs been along time, too longâ
There was a long pause as Daryl took off, and he looked into the rearview mirror as they sped away from the walker herd. Itâd been a close call, and he was lucky to have gotten out of there alive - they both were. He gave a sigh of relief, knowing that heâd barely escaped and that Pippy was alright. Knew I shouldnât have gone on this run.
"Donât worry âbout it. Guess I couldâve offered you a quieter weapon - jusâ figured you wouldnât really want to consider what to put your sister down with." He kept his eyes glued to the road in front of them, hearing her quiet sobs and not wanting to make them any worse by acknowledging the fact he knew she was crying. "Sorry you had to do it." Daryl knew how it felt to have to put down a sibling after theyâd turned. It was a terrible pain in the pits of your stomach; like somehow you were betraying them, because they were family, after all.
He looked to the picture, nodding his head slowly. The family looked happy⊠It was definitely a nice place to be. âLooks like a nice family.â
Pippy relaxed herself, trying to forget what she just did. She was in pain, she tried to breathe but It was getting harder and harder from her sobbing so much. ''I wanted to use a quieter weapon, I knew I should have. There was nothing else to use'' She said crossing her arms, wanting to get back to the prison right now. ''We all have to do it at some point, don't be sorry'' Â Pippy said looking outside and staring at the birds. ''Yeah, we were a nice family once. Before those things came along, now they're all dead. Except me, Ironic. I thought I was going to die first but It turns out I died last'' She sobbed. ''We're almost there'' She said looking at the prison from afar, ''Thank god''. ''Have you ever lost anybody like that before?'' She asked as they were getting closer and closer to the prison.Â
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
âThanks for understandingâ She said understanding the man and growing to like him each minute they spend together. She looked at the older man and it looked like he became quite curious. She ignored it now, but maybe later sheâll tell him why. Pippy is glad that he just understands. She laughed, âLucky colours are lucky, anything can be lucky. Even a promiseâ She said under her breath. âI just donât want anybody else to die, Iâve lost enough people.â Pippy said dramatically, closing her eyes and remembering everything that ever had happened to her. âItâs a dangerous world out there, but you probably already know thatâ. âIâm good at giving directions, donât you worry.â She said, âYou have to go straight ahead, then weâll get by a street and Iâll tell you when to stop and take three lefts and thatâs it.â Pippy said with a smile on her face, feeling relieved that she was able to do this. They finally got there, after all that driving. âWe donât have to bust in, thatâll make more noiseâ She got her key from her boot and opened the frontdoor, Inside laid a young child who was zombified. âShe was my sister, I wanted to put her out of her misery. Iâm sorry that I did this, I just had to. We stayed here for the first couple of months, she had cancer and died shortly after. We couldnât do it, she was our sister and then we were overrun. We fled the fastest we could, but they didnât make it. One of my sisters, she went missing, I never saw her again. She might be alive, but just my luck she most likely isnâtâ She explained, grabbing her gun and aiming it at her sister. âHer names Katey, by the way. I miss h-â She said before tearing up, âI love you, love you.â She said before closing her eyes and aiming it at her zombified sister and shooting it. She turned around and picked up a photo frame on the desk table and put it in her backpack, streams came pouring down her face. âWe can go nowâ, suddenly walkers came in out of nowhere. Taking over the house, Daryl and Pippy were separated and Pippy ran to the car and locked herself in. She couldnât see Daryl anywhere, she got worried and waited. âDaryl?â, âDaryl?â She cried.Â
There wasnât much Daryl knew to say. Here she was, about to shoot her sister. Why did she feel she was the one who had to finally put her down after all this time? There were so many questions, but he didnât want to ask, scared heâd say the wrong thing. âIâm⊠sorry. I really am.â His voice was low and husky, and he wondered if sheâd heard. He wanted to ask if sheâd prefer to use a weapon that didnât cause much noise, but figured that wasnât the main concern at the moment.
Once the walkers began flooding in, Daryl find himself separated from the little girl, and he turned in desperate circles, looking everywhere he could. He wasnât going to leave this place without knowing where she was - not even if it was the thing he didnât want to see. âPippy!â He stayed as long as he possibly could, skillfully dodging the walkers as they surrounded. In a panic, Daryl shot out of the house and into the car, not fully realizing that Pippy was sitting there, tears running down her face until heâd sped off.
"Scared the livinâ shit out of me!" He looked her over. "You good? Any bites?" He couldnât tell if she was crying from a bite or just because of the situation. "See what I mean âbout these runs beinâ dangerous?"
She wiped away her tears and put her hands together and rubbed them nervously. ''I'm so sorry, I really am. We've gotta go before more come!'' She said turning on the car, In a hurry. ''I got what I got for now we can go. I didn't get bitten, I'm alright, don't worry about me. Worry about yourself'' She spoke in a high pitchy voice. ''They're dangerous, but they have to be done and It's just the way it is. ''Thank god, I thought we were going to be stuck there, alone'' She said nervously, ''I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen. I just needed to get this, It's dangerous but I needed to'' Pippy sighed and smiled, ''This is my family'' Pippy said showing Daryl the picture of her family which was covered in dust. ''It's been along time, too long''
ooc- I'll get another starter up in abit, I've been busy lately. Sorry!
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
Pippy listened as the man explained the location and how weâll get there, âItâs safer to go by car, I just hope we donât run out of patrolâ Pippy said nervously whilst Daryl guided her near some cars. âItâs one, or two miles away. not too far. Iâve walked more than that. Weâve got to be safe, okay?â Pippy said, âAbout what you said earlier, Iâm not suicidal. I want to live, I promised somebody I would and Iâll do that. Iâm not on a suicide mission, Itâs just a simple task, weâll get out there alive.â Pippy said with confidence. Pippy opened one of the cars door, she picked it because It was orange. âOrangeâs my lucky colour, letâs get in this car.â She requested, opening the door and getting it. âCan you drive? because, I canât.â She laughed whilst putting her seat belt on. âMake sure you put your seatbelt on too, just incase. You never know when weâll crash and just incase roamers start coming around, weâve got to make sureâ
Daryl stopped dead in his tracks as she explained her reason for wanting to stay alive. He hadnât meant it seriously when heâd asked if she was on a suicide mission, just wanted to knock some sense into her. Deep down, know one really wanted to die. Survival instinct kicked in whenever it was needed - that was human nature. âI know. You didnât seem like you wanted to die. Just wanted to make sure you understood.â He didnât want to pry into her personal life and ask who sheâd made this promise to, but it sparked curiosity.
"Right. Lucky color." Daryl slowly walked towards the car and got behind the wheel. ââCourse I know how to drive. Youâre a kid - kinda figured you didnât know how." He raised a brow and chuckled under his breath at her warning about the seatbelts. "Calm down Pippy Long Stockings, Iâm puttinâ it on." Making sure she heard the soft click of the belt, he started up the car. "Hope youâre good with givinâ directions."
''Thanks for understanding'' She said understanding the man and growing to like him each minute they spend together. She looked at the older man and it looked like he became quite curious. She ignored it now, but maybe later she'll tell him why. Pippy is glad that he just understands. She laughed, ''Lucky colours are lucky, anything can be lucky. "How Are You Feeling?" || OPEN RP
Tiffany had been from cell to cell all day, making sure her patients were getting better or not getting worse, at least. She liked to call them her patients, it made her feel good. She wiped the sweat from her head and slightly coughed, she stopped for a moment and felt her own forehead. âShit, donât get sick nowâ She mumbled, shaking off the fact her life may be in danger. Her forehead felt hot, she was burning up.
She spent another long while checking in on everyone in their cells. She ended up having to lock cell doors of the people who seemed to be taking a turn for the worse, of course she didnât want to lock them in but itâs better safe than sorry. She checked the cell at the end of the room. She held onto the bars and smiled a little, âHow are you feeling?âÂ
âBad.â Pippy almost thought that she wasnât sick, but couldnât lie. She wished she had some panacea at that moment. âWell, better than earlier on, considering that earlier more people were dying, faster.â Pippy said in quite a precocious way. âYouâve helped us alot, youâre a good person. Thank-â She tried to say before coughing up blood and covering her mouth, hoping nobody else catches the sickness. âYou okay?â Pippy asked curiously, âYou donât look too goodâ She said putting her hand on her friends head, before hearing coughing noises from outside. Before they could react one or two people turned and they had nowhere to run. âDonât.â Pippy said closing her gate door, with Tiffany inside. âItâs too dangerous, If you have to you can get them through the gate bars. We have to be careful, all the doors are shut. Arenât they?â Pippy asked curious to the older womanâs answer. One started coming towards them, putting scratching at the bars and a loud clanging noise went off from where their vile fingernails hit the bars. âWe have to be quickâ Pippy said grabbing holding her knife and digging it straight through the walkers skull as she faced the older woman. âYouâre Tiffany, right? I didnât catch your name, sorry. Iâm Pippyâ She smiled watching the other roamer come closer and closer, âHere. You can do itâ Pippy said handing her the knife. âI canât, theyâre just -â Pippy paused and stared at the vile walker, âI canât. Theyâre just like familyâ Pippy said feeling disgusted with herself and looking away whilst Tiffany took out the walker.Â
Tiffany quickly removed the knife from the walkers head and watched it slump down against the bars. She then turned to look at Pippy, quite impressed about how maturely the young girl handled the situation. She handled it better than Tiffany ever could, always hesitating to take out a walker. She didnât like it and clearly Pippy didnât either. Tiffany merely sighed before speaking, âYou can turn around now.âTiffany looked down at the dead walker, she carefully examined his face then let out a groan of distress, âHe was fine⊠I mean- he was getting better. I closed the cells of the more weaker people. Why is this happening?â She ran her fingers through her hair an then covered her mouth so she could cough. She reverted back to the young girl and answered one of her questions, âYes, Iâm Tiffany. Itâs lovely to finally meet you, Pippy.â âšMore groaning could be heard from outside of the cell. More people had died and turned. Tiffany grabbed onto the cold cell bars, ready to open the cell door. âI⊠gotta take care of them.â
She was facing the other direction as the older woman put the knife through the walkers skull, she reached out for the knife, taking it back. ''I'll take my knife back now'' She requested. ''They simply want to be alive, they run outside for help and then die. It's cruel, I'm too ill to help, but I try my best'' Pippy said whilst people were coughing up blood in their cells. ''You've heard stories about me, huh?'' She asked curiously, ''Wait.'' Pippy held onto her, shutting the cell door. ''You've got to be careful, take my knife. I'll come with you'' Pip said as she opened the cell doors and walked out on the people dying. ''Yo-You've gotta help them!'' She said almost weeping and backing up into Tiffany.Â
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
Pippy felt upset, she knew what she had to do to survive. Some didnât. She saw her family getting devoured and that was terrible, a bullet through their head wasnât that bad. âI wasnât scared, I accept death. Itâs hard at first, but we die, youâll die, Iâll die. Everybody dies. Anybody can dieâ Pippy said as she thought about the trouble of going on a run, âIâm sorry, I told them I was. I didnât want to, but they were going towards the sick, people would have died If I had been more discreet. Especially the sickâ She explained, filling up with emotionâs left and right. âLetâs get these bodies out of hereâ Pippy said dragging one into a different place. âYou gonna help?â She asked curiously, needing somebody to drag the other one. Wanting to end their family members misery sooner, Itâd take time. But, sheâd rather not have them see them dead. âOkay, Iâve got everything packed in my bag.â Pippy said running back into her cell and retrieving her bag then running back to Daryl. âLetâs goâ She said making her way out of the prison, by the gates. âAre we taking a car or we going by foot?â Pippy asked, waitingâ for an answer.
"Iâd rather not think âbout dyinâ right now. Donât know âbout you, but I wanna live a little longer. I ainât on a suicide mission." Daryl huffed, but was secretly grateful. The situation with the walkers couldâve quickly gotten out of hand, and Pippy was the reason itâd ended before anything bad could happen. Still, she was only a kid, and was vulnerable. He wasnât about to let her die trying to be the tragic hero of the story.
As he helped dragged the heavier of the bodies into a different space, he made a mental note to do something with the bodies once they got back. They couldnât just leave them there to rot - it as inhumane. âNah, weâre takinâ a car. Donât know how far away your house is, and I donât feel like takinâ a kid on foot through all of those bastards.â He pointed towards the walkers who were slowly circling the prison outside of the gate. Daryl guided her to one of the few idle cars. ââBout how far away is this place of yours?â
Pippy listened as the man explained the location and how we'll get there, ''It's safer to go by car, I just hope we don't run out of patrol'' Pippy said nervously whilst Daryl guided her near some cars. ''It's one, or two miles away. not too far. I've walked more than that. We've got to be safe, okay?'' Pippy said, ''About what you said earlier, I'm not suicidal. ''You're not dead until you stop moving''
Pippy rushed to her cell, In the sick ward. Collecting everything that she owned, and rushing out straight away to make sure she didnât get infected, again. She was lucky this time. As she was coming out of the sick ward she looked to her left and saw somebody who was hurt. âHello?â Pippy said, not getting an answer or anything. They turned and started growling at Pippy. Pippy fell over whilst trying to get away from the walker and quickly grabbed the gun from her boot, as quick as possibly she shot both walkers in an instant. People started coming towards their cells, curious of what just happened. âThey turnedâ, âIâm sorryâ She said as she watched their love-ones cry, she had to leave. She couldnât deal with this. She rushed out and went into the new cell block. âCleanâ Pippy said looking at the somehow clean walls and flooring. âNobodies here, I guess theyâre all in quarantine because theyâre all too scared to get infectedâ Pippy thought to herself, before setting out a cell to herself. She heard footsteps, they came as quick as lighting. âNot again.â Pippy pulled out the knife Carol gave her out of her backpack, making sure she didnât make any noise and not attracting anymore walkers. She closed her gate, remembering how she fought them off whilst in the sick ward. She hit her knife on the bars, back and fore. Making noise, she waited and waited. Then out of the shadows an old lady walker appeared and  her heart melted. âIâm sorryâ She said as it came closer and closer. Pippy acted fast and got out her knife, putting it through the old decaying walkers dead. She set up her things, cleaning the sheets and spraying some spray. Making sure it didnât smell too bad, or âgoodâ. She heard something coming closer, and closer. This one was definitely a human since she could hear their breathing. âDaryl? Is that you? are we going now?â Pippy asked, curious If she could go now.Â
The gunshots were loud as they echoed through the halls of the prison, and Daryl ran towards the sound, thinking the worst. Had there been another attack on a cell block? What if everyone was already gone and there was nothing he could do to save them? By the time he reached the two motionless bodies on the ground they were surrounded by sick people. âIâll get this cleaned up, sorry âbout you havinâ to see it.â He reassured the people before turning to look for Pippy.
The sound of something scraping the metal bars lured him to her cell, where he found another body lying in its entrance. âCan you be a little more discreet âbout killinâ âem âround folks? People are scared, especially those with the flu. They donât need to witness anythinâ like that, got it?â He had to say, he was impressed. He hadnât seen her shoot the walkers, but from the looks of the two in the cell block, sheâd only had to take one shot. Maybe taking her out on a run wasnât as big of a mistake as Daryl thought it to be.
"We better get movinâ if weâre gonna get this over with. The sooner you take care of your business, the sooner I can bring you back."
Pippy felt upset, she knew what she had to do to survive. Some didn't. She saw her family getting devoured and that was terrible, a bullet through their head wasn't that bad. ''I wasn't scared, I accept death. It's hard at first, but we die, you'll die, I'll die. Everybody dies. Pippy said running back into her cell and retrieving her bag then running back to Daryl. ''Let's go'' She said making her way out of the prison, by the gates. ''Are we taking a car or we going by foot?'' Pippy asked, waiting' for an answer.
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
âAlright, I understand. Iâve got a gun, wanna see?â She mentioned before grabbing her gun out of her boot, a weird place to keep such an item. She looked up at the clouds and tried to make shapes with each cloud, like her mother used to do to keep her family members quiet on road trips. âI havenât got many friends, thereâs not many children at the prison. Iâve got more adult friends than children, but the same could go for them.â Pippy didnât like this idea either, she just had to. She needed to do this, Itâs what needs to be done. âYou really mean it? Woah, I didnât except that. Thank you so much, you donât know how grateful I am. Iâll stay by you at all times, I promise. Got it.â âYou know where Iâll be at, see you. Come to me when youâre ready, okay?â Pippy said before running away. She paused and stopped running, âIâve got to do something and Iâve got to get a few items, Iâll explain later, or Iâll explain when we get there. Either way, weâve gotta keep moving, Iâll be in my cellâ.
"Careful where you point that thing, Pip." As the girl pulled the gun out of her boot, Daryl quickly moved out of aim. Where and how sheâd gotten the weapon he didnât know, nor did he want to. If she could shoot, heâd find that out sooner or later if they ran into trouble. Hopefully she was a woman of her word and was actually as good a shot as she claimed to be. Heâd need every ounce of help he could get.
As she began rushing off, Daryl huffed, trying to keep up. âWhat? What do you mean a few items? If weâre leavinâ we better - You know what? Never mind.â He shook his head and watched as Pippy hurried away. He still didnât know what was so important that she needed from her old place, and now she had some other mysterious things she suddenly needed to bring along. This little trip just didnât sit well with Daryl, but there wasnât much he could do about that now.
Pippy rushed to her cell, In the sick ward. Collecting everything that she owned, and rushing out straight away to make sure she didn't get infected, again. She was lucky this time. As she was coming out of the sick ward she looked to her left and saw somebody who was hurt. ''Hello?'' Pippy said, not getting an answer or anything. They turned and started growling at Pippy. Pippy acted fast and got out her knife, putting it through the old decaying walkers dead. She set up her things, cleaning the sheets and spraying some spray. Making sure it didn't smell too bad, or ''good''. She heard something coming closer, and closer. This one was definitely a human since she could hear their breathing. ''Daryl? Is that you? are we going now?'' Pippy asked, curious If she could go now.Â
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
âCarlâs around my age, heâs allowed to go out. I can protect myself. I can shoot and Carol taught me how to use a knife, you canât do it for me. I have to do it myself and If you wonât take me, Iâll just sneak out. Itâs stupid, but I NEED to do thisâ Pippy explained carefully.âItâs something I need and I have to do, I just want to go back to my old house, for a few hours. Thatâs all, could you possibly do that? She asked curiously. âPlease, Iâm begging you, or Iâll have to go out there myself and get eaten by roamersâ Pippy knew that she most likely wouldnât get killed by walkers and she lied. She waited for the older gentlemanâs response patiently.
Damn Daryl, youâre getting played by a fucking twelve year old. âCarlâs allowed to go out âcause he knows how to shoot and weâve all seen. Ainât never seen you shoot a gun before.â There was more reason, but why waste his breath? He was in an uphill battle and was sure to lose. Her threat of sneaking out alone seemed genuine - desperate people did stupid things. He stared at her for a few moments before rolling his eyes and sighing before looking up to the sky as though the answer would be written out in the clouds.
"Iâll take you⊠But the moment I say lets go, that means weâre getting out, understood?" Darylâs voice was low and soft so that only the two of them could hear. "And I donât need you goinâ âround tellinâ all of your friends âbout it, either. Iâm not startinâ up field trips." This whole thing still didnât feel right to him, but Daryl who rather take Pippy outside of the fence with his supervision than by herself.
"And you gotta stay in my sight at all times. The first wrong move you make will be the last. The moment you wander out of my sight or do somethinâ stupid, weâre gettinâ our asses back to the prisonâŠ. Got it?"
''Alright, I understand. I've got a gun, wanna see?'' She mentioned before grabbing her gun out of her boot, a weird place to keep such an item. She looked up at the clouds and tried to make shapes with each cloud, like her mother used to do to keep her family members quiet on road trips. ''I haven't got many friends, there's not many children at the prison. I've got more adult friends than children, but the same could go for them.'' Pippy didn't like this idea either, she just had to. She needed to do this, It's what needs to be done. ''You really mean it? Woah, I didn't except that. Thank you so much, you don't know how grateful I am. I'll stay by you at all times, I promise. Got it.'' ''You know where I'll be at, see you. Come to me when you're ready, okay?'' Pippy said before running away. She paused and stopped running, ''I've got to do something and I've got to get a few items, I'll explain later, or I'll explain when we get there. Either way, we've gotta keep moving, I'll be in my cell''.
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
Pippy shrugged her shoulders, âSheâs real nice - She treats us like her own, she treats us with respect no matter where weâve been or what weâve done. We need people like thatâ Pippy explained the the older gentleman. âI miss her, I do.â Pippy sighed. âI was. Iâm still covering, the rest are still in there. I recovered, I donât know how. I just guess I won. I won.â She smiled and stared at the man to the side of her. âI miss stuff. I miss cars, I miss music and I used to hate those things before this happened. Music was alright, but cars just annoyed me and now I act like alittle child when Iâm in one, I guess thatâs because I literally am a childâ Pippy said whilst dragging her hands against the prison gate, making sure no walkers get to her. She stopped. âIâm just bored, this might be a bad idea, but could we possibly go on a run together? I need to get something. Itâs importantâ She said before going onto the floor and turning around. âItâs important, I mean it. Itâs something to do with my family, I just need toâ
"Yeah, I miss stuff too." Daryl listened carefully to everything Pippy said, not wanting her to think he was ignoring her. As she explained the way Carol treated them with care, he nodded, knowing it was all true. He wondered how close she was to this little kid before sheâd left - or rather, had been put out.
Daryl snapped to attention at the mention of a run. Could he take her outside of the fence? That didnât sound too likely. It was risky enough taking the small group that usually accompanied him, but a kid would only double the chances of something going wrong. âAre you crazy? I canât take you on a run⊠Itâs dangerous.â He knew his answer wouldnât satisfy her, but it was the best he could do. âWhat do you want? Maybe I can get it for you..?â
''Carl's around my age, he's allowed to go out. I can protect myself. I can shoot and Carol taught me how to use a knife, you can't do it for me. I have to do it myself and If you won't take me, I'll just sneak out. It's stupid, but I NEED to do this'' Pippy explained carefully.''It's something I need and I have to do, I just want to go back to my old house, for a few hours. That's all, could you possibly do that? She asked curiously. ''Please, I'm begging you, or I'll have to go out there myself and get eaten by roamers'' Pippy knew that she most likely wouldn't get killed by walkers and she lied. She waited for the older gentleman's response patiently.
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
As the older gentleman walked over near the flowers, Pippy listened carefully to the groans of the walkers around her. âSome people do want to die, I know that feeling, Iâve seen people die like that. I just wish that I hadnâtâ. Pippy grabbed the flower, smelling it and holding it close. âItâs beautiful, thank you.â She smiled, staring at the older male guessing he wasnât exactly a red herring. âI promise, I wonât tell.â Pippy pulled her pinky out and put it near the older gentleman, âPinky swearâ. âI understand. Those things are deceased, they could hurt us at any chance they got, but theyâre different. Not in the good way, but bad. I just feel sorry for them, I donât believe that the person inside them just goes away. They have to stay in that body, not being able to do anything, hurting their loved ones and crying on the inside, theyâre ill, but weâve got to be strong and we have to take care of ourselvesâ Pippy explained. âCall me Pipâ She said swinging her arms back and fore whilst handling the flower in her left hand. âHow come Iâve never seen you around here before?â Pippy asked curiously, âI know that I donât go out much, but still. I think Iâve heard Carol talk about you once or twice, sheâs a good person. She saved me, she brought me here. If Carol didnât save me, Iâd be dead. I wouldnât have no supplies, I barely was surviving at the time anyway, I would have died trying to survive, ironicâ Pippy said frowning about the depressing topic.Â
For a long moment Daryl only stared at the little girlâs pinky before realizing what she wanted. Heâd never made a pinky promise before, but heâd witnessed numerous of them being made. Slowly, he held out his own finger and nodded, not being able to come up with a response that would satisfy her. It actually made him feel⊠Well, a little gloomy thinking about the world this innocent child was now living in. Although dead people were merely feet away from them, separated from the living by only a fence, she still found it appropriate to pick flowers and make pinky promises.
At the mention of Carol, Darylâs face dropped and he kicked at the sand under his feet. âIâm usually out on runs or somethinâ. Ainât got much time for socializinâ.â He shrugged. âBut that sounds like Carol - sheâs got a soft spot for all kidsâŠâ Everyone knew that. Every child that was at the prison, she took care of like they were her own⊠Before sheâd had to leave, anyway. âWere you sick or somethinâ? Donât think Iâve seen you âround much, either.â
Pippy shrugged her shoulders, ''She's real nice - She treats us like her own, she treats us with respect no matter where we've been or what we've done. We need people like that'' Pippy explained the the older gentleman. ''I miss her, I do.'' Pippy sighed. ''I was. I'm still covering, the rest are still in there. I recovered, I don't know how. ''It's important, I mean it. It's something to do with my family, I just need to''
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
âTheyâre not getting me infected anytime soon, not until I want to die, which is unlikely. Iâve been through alot, I understand that mistakes happen but I think that Iâd survive picking at a flower through the fence.â Pippy said open-mindedly, âSorry, Iâve just been in there for so long.â Pippy said sighing and looking at her feet whilst she swayed them back and fore, waiting for a reply from the older gentleman. âAlright, Iâll move over to the safe part of the fence, guess I could do you that favor and not argueâ Pippy said before standing up. âI feel sorry for them. They look so sad, donât they look sad to you?â She said glancing at the roamer and then staring at Daryl for awhile, but eventually looking away not to make eye contact. âIâm Pippy. Pippy Palmerâ
"I donât think anyone wants to die, so I doubt thatâll happen anytime soon." Darylâs eyes wandered over to the flowers sitting on the other side of the fence. He wasnât very good around kids, but heâd picked up a few tricks which came with hanging around Carol. He walked to the fence and quickly reached through, plucking another flower and handed it to the girl. "I wonât tell if you donât."
Nodding, he shrugged. âDonât think there is a safe side of the fence, but youâre welcome to look. Those things are circlinâ everywhere you look.â Daryl squinted at the walker before shaking his head. âHe looks dead to me. Ainât much sadness âbout the fact heâs tryinâ to get in here to kill us.â His words seemed harsh, but there was truth in them. âPippy Palmer. Damn, thatâs a name, ainât it? Never heard of one like that before.â
As the older gentleman walked over near the flowers, Pippy listened carefully to the groans of the walkers around her. ''Some people do want to die, I know that feeling, I've seen people die like that. I just wish that I hadn't''. Pippy grabbed the flower, smelling it and holding it close.
''Bad.'' Pippy almost thought that she wasn't sick, but couldn't lie. She wished she had some panacea at that moment. ''Well, better than earlier on, considering that earlier more people were dying, faster.'' Pippy said in quite a precocious way. ''You've helped us alot, you're a good person. Thank-'' She tried to say before coughing up blood and covering her mouth, hoping nobody else catches the sickness. ''You okay?'' Pippy asked curiously, ''You don't look too good'' She said putting her hand on her friends head, before hearing coughing noises from outside. Before they could react one or two people turned and they had nowhere to run. ''Don't.'' Pippy said closing her gate door, with Tiffany inside. ''It's too dangerous, If you have to you can get them through the gate bars. We have to be careful, all the doors are shut. Aren't they?'' Pippy asked curious to the older woman's answer. One started coming towards them, putting scratching at the bars and a loud clanging noise went off from where their vile fingernails hit the bars. ''We have to be quick'' Pippy said grabbing holding her knife and digging it straight through the walkers skull as she faced the older woman. ''You're Tiffany, right? I didn't catch your name, sorry. I'm Pippy'' She smiled watching the other roamer come closer and closer, ''Here. You can do it'' Pippy said handing her the knife. ''I can't, they're just -'' Pippy paused and stared at the vile walker, ''I can't. They're just like family'' Pippy said feeling disgusted with herself and looking away whilst Tiffany took out the walker.Â
''You're not dead until you stop moving''
Given to sudden change of her illness, Pippy slowly walked outside for the first time in weeks, barely being able to move. Her eyes brightened up as the sun glazed on her face and she smiled. She closed her eyes and held her hands together, almost tearing up that her wish came true, that she could live for longer and perhaps she could fulfill the wish she made to her deceased mother. She almost thought she was in a dream, that this one some kind of trickery, she pinched her arm and realized that sheâs still breathing and sheâs not dead until she stops moving. She clenched her eyelids together and started dragging her self across the prison walls, making her way to the prison gates. She never thought flowers were beautiful, until the day she could finally see them again. She looked at the bunch of serenely beautiful flowers and picked at them through the fence. She heard groaning coming closer and closer, she quickly slid her fingers through the fence to herself and stopped picking at the flowers. She looked up at the lonesome and sad roamer, not having anybody or somebody to talk to. She could relate. âHelloâ She said to the walker as it groaned back. She heard footsteps, coming closer and closer, she stopped talking and turned around hoping the mysterious person behind her didnât see her talk to that walker. She could only hope. âWho are you?â She said looking at the mysterious person infront of her.
Daryl paused mid-step to watch as the young girl slowly made her way to the fence. She looked weak and pale, like she hadnât been outside in months. He guessed she was one of the many that the flu had gotten to and internally sighed. She looked like she was going to be alright, but you never knew. She reached through the fence, grabbing for something, and Daryl instinctively moved closer once the lone walker was spotted.
"Daryl. Saw you reachinâ through the fence - hope you ainât askinâ to get bit or somethinâ." He stood several feet away from her, partly because he didnât want to seem to threatening, and partly because if she was still sick - well, he just wanted to be on the safe side. "Might be better if you stay on this side of the fence⊠Those things can be faster than they look."
''They're not getting me infected anytime soon, not until I want to die, which is unlikely. I've been through alot, I understand that mistakes happen but I think that I'd survive picking at a flower through the fence.'' Pippy said open-mindedly, ''Sorry, I've just been in there for so long.''
