This is my submission for the marvellous PixelZine. The theme is ‘Exploring the Outside World’ and this took me far too long to finish! But here it is, an intrepid llama rider venturing out into the wilderness.

A lot of people asked me about pixel art tools, so here’s a list of the ones I’ve heard of. I can’t vouch for all of them as I only use Pixen and Photoshop myself, but I’ve heard a great deal about Gimp, GraphicsGale and RotSprite too. Go and make pixel art! :)

My submission for PixelZine!  With the theme being “exploring the outside world”, of course had to burden myself with another detailed landscape.  Sort of inspired by a vivid dream I had once.

First, thank you to the 335 of you who are following this blog! That's an incredible number and we're very thankful.

Second, Im noticing that a lot of people are emailing their submissions and not posting them on tumblr. You don't have to, but you definitely should (don't forget to tag it #pixel zine) so that we can reblog the submission for everyone to see!

The Rule of the Games tumblr posted a list of good pixel artists to follow. I must admit I didn’t know more than 3/4 of them so this is a great find (I’ve followed 30 new blogs thanks to them).

Read through their list for starters.

hello, i want to submit a piece but i am afraid that it will be fairly late, if i miss out on this PixelZine, will there be more in the future?

The extended deadline is January 1, so there definitely is a lot of time, but that date, like the others, is super flexible, so you should be able to take your time with your submission. The sooner the better though.

how soft is this deadline exactly? like if i submit tomorrow will i still have a shot?

Very soft…like softer than a small rabbit. I won’t be putting the zine together until the spring, so you have as much time as you need. Just make sure to check the guideline post to make sure that your submission is A-OK on the technical side of things.

I am so relieved you're extending this deadline! Now I actually have some time to work on a more solid idea. I'm assuming this second one will be the hard deadline?

This zine is really cut back, and realistically, I'll be working on this during the middle of Spring/Summer when I'm totally free from school, so the second deadline is going to be a bit flexible. I just set a date, because thats better than saying "Give it to me around the month of so-and-so". Hope this helps a lot more people!
