As a bisexual person I'm keenly aware of how such stereotypes are inevitably harmful to us, but unfortunately when I see bisexuals in fiction who are Evil and stylish and fuck like champions I can't help but go "oh work" for a sec. It's a difficult conundrum

Essentially, this is a song about one-sided love between a girl and her best friend. She loves them, always has, always will. But fate separates them. They have always loved someone else, always will. She cannot confess, she cannot risk losing them permanently. So she waits. She does make peace with it, eventually, but not before doing everything she can to be the person her best friend choses.
Here goes nothing (an extensive, almost line-by-line analysis):

“Go on, tell me more,” she tells him. It hurts her imagining him with other people but he needs to think she doesn’t care that she doesn’t love him. The holograms of him and the others dance in front of her eyes and she just watches it happen.

And you saw my bones out with somebody new
Who seemed like he would have bullied you in school
You just watched it happen
They have been friends for almost a decade now. And she dates the kind of people he would hate, hoping that he would interfere, be the knight and save her from them, but he doesn’t care anymore. It’s her life, after all. And they’re just friends, after all.
If you want to tear my world apart
Just say you’ve always wondered.
And despite it all, he still has the audacity to jokingly say, “I have always wondered if we would fit as lovers. But nah, we’re best friends.”
You said some things that I can't unabsorb
You turned me into an idea of sorts
“God I hope I end up with someone like you,” he says to her. “Then why not me?!” Why feed the ideas into her brains if she it is only to remain just as such, an idea, a concept.
I changed into goddesses, villains and fools
Changed plans and lovers and outfits and rules
All to outrun my desertion of you
She changes herself to fit his type, to be someone she was not. She changes her ambitions and plans in the hopes that he can finally see her. Alas…

Just say, 'I loved you the way that you were'
Oh and after all this, he still has the guts to say that he liked her old self ?

It’s alright now, she knows it’s too late to do anything about it, to make him love her. After all she was just a silly kid in love when they first met. She needs to let it go…she wants to let it go.
So if I sell my apartment
And you have some kids with an internet starlet
Will that make your memory fade from this scarlet maroon
like it never happened
Could it be enough to just float in your orbit
Can we watch our phantoms like watching wild horses Cooler in theory but not if you force it to be, it just didn’t happen
One day she will move away, he will have a family of his own. Will he still think of her fondly or will he remember the mess she made of herself trying to be the one for him? Could it be enough to just be a part of each other’s life and laugh over the good ol’ days? Will there still be any love between them, even if platonic?
She has reached stage five now. Acceptance- that she will not be his one true love, that their fates have some other plans for them. Acceptance that them being in love was just an illusion; much better in theory but not something they could force to be perfect in reality.
But it still will break her heart if he laughs “damn I wonder if we would have been good together.” She will always wonder. Will she always wonder…?

I think this is easily one of Taylor’s most heart wrenching song. It fools us easily because it is deeply emotional and despite it all, purely fictional. A career highlight that will, if it has not already, put her name in the songwriters’ hall of fame. Every time I hear it, it has always manages to coax a tear out of me. the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
hi guys i know this is kind of a big ask so im going to try to elaborate as many details as i can even if many of them are painful and private and i do want to give a content warning for mentions of animal injury and abuse
as some of you know, my sister is an addict and i am currently estranged from her. about a month and a half ago, her dog was abandoned at a rescue that partners with the animal shelter i volunteer at, tied up to their front door in the middle of the night with injuries that are presumed to be from being struck by a car.. severe road rash on his legs and paws and bruising, thankfully nothing broken. he received some medical treatment and was transferred to the shelter i volunteer at. during this time, my sister did not attempt to reclaim her dog and i assumed responsibility for him at an expense i and my family wasn’t exactly prepared for. due to his age and his illness and injuries, he would not have been a fit adoption candidate but i did not feel that he was ready for euthanasia. he is a good dog, still full of life and still making every effort to keep going, and he’s so deserving of spending his remaining time here comfortably despite what he has been through the past several months. the truth is, he has been abused and severely neglected. my brother in law knocked several of the dog’s teeth out and broke them (he is currently in jail), and both he and my sister were aware of the dog’s kidney disease but did not seek medical treatment for him and often allowed the dog to go days without food or water.
at this time, he needs further vet care; antibiotics, pain medication, treatment for his anxiety, medicated baths, and prescription dog food for his kidney disease. a family friend created a gfm to help us with these expenses and im asking y’all to help or share this anywhere you can, if you can. he has a long way to go but he’s not giving up yet. 🩵 if you have any questions or any details you want verified, please don’t hesitate to send me an ask and i will do my best to get back to you quickly!!
your writing does not have to be outstanding or exceptional. seriously, I read books all the time with just average writing, maybe some of the minor characters are one dimensional and cliched, maybe the dialogue is a little cheesy, maybe the plot is a little shaky, but the characters and their dire situation have hooked me. your story doesn’t have to be 5 stars to be worth writing and sharing and it will find the people who will love it.
