do I like Jax? Of course I do. Do I feel bad for him? Of course I do. Do I sympathize with him? Of course I do. Do I think he was an amazing character and incredibly well written? Of course i do. Do I think his back story was horribly sad? Of course i do. Do I think his character is incredibly important to the story and an amazing representation of lots of things? Of course I do. but was he still an abuser? Yes. Do I forgive him. Kind of. Do people need to actually realize what his character is supposed to mean? Yes.

people spend to much time glazing Jax and feeling bad for him to realize that he IS a bad person. And he’s supposed to be. He’s not supposed to be nice, you’re supposed to sympathize with him not romanticize his trauma. You're supposed to like his character not undersell his potential and personality. You’re supposed to feel bad for him not forget about every single threat he made to every single person in the circus.

I’m not saying you’re not allowed to like him, I’m just saying people need to stop taking the sad, “funny” male character and completely forgetting that they aren’t what the fandom says they are…

same thing happened with Leo Valdez, now do I hate Jax as much as Leo? No. (NOT EVEN FUCKING CLOSE. I DON’T EVEN HATE JAX. I BARELY DISLIKE HIM.)

but the mischaracterization of these types of people is actually insane to me.

Jax was an abuser. End of story. But he’s supposed to be, he’s not your “precious little angel baby who can do no wrong 🥹😊”

and you’re completely forgetting that his character is supposed to be a dick…he’s supposed to use “humor” as a way to mask his intense psychological trauma. he’s supposed to represent BPD or Intense Anxiety (panic attacks, hyperventilating when stressed or nervous about something) to a degree of course, but he still does.

this isn’t a “you can’t like Jax” post, it’s a “he’s not your small little baby who needs a hug.” I like him too, and I like him a lot more after episode nine, but some things I can’t defend him for, like pushing Ribbit away and then shitting on everybody else for it…like wtf did you think was gonna happen dude? (I THOUGHT ABOUT IT MORE AFTER THOUGH AND I DO REALIZE NOW IT WAS JUST A COPING MECHANISM, HE DIDN’T REALIZE THE EFFECT IT WOULD HAVE UNTIL ITXWAS TOO LATE, IT JUST PISSED ME OFF IN THE MOMENT, BECAUSE HE ESSENTIALLY DROV HER TO SUICIDE, PLEASE DON’T SLIME ME.)
