Trainers these days don't remember using your own flying pokemon to get around the region like a decade ago
Why was that allowed. Who let me fly on the back of an unfezant with no protection at age 12. How am I alive.
In our own defense, Pokémon are typically very protective of trainers they have a bond with.
That said, yeah, it does make you wonder why more people weren't trying to get precautions in place...
20 for the ask game?
20. Do you think Water and Ice are distinctly different Pokémon types, or largely the same and incorrectly categorized?
By all available evidence, they are different! They display different affinities, and their types interact differently with others -- in ways that cannot simply be waved away by Ice-Types having an affinity for 'cold' (as is the main argument when people point out Ice- and Water-Types have very different relationships to Fire-Types.)
People like to make these conspiracies, and it's (usually) all in good fun, but the truth is that Pokémon types take a lot of research before they're officially recognized. Just look at how long Fairy-Types took to be distinctly categorized.
One of the biggest pieces of evidence is how Water-Type Z Crystals do not work for Ice-Type moves, and vice versa.
Although, if you are interested in this topic, you may be interested in research done on Pokémon history and lineage. I have seen some compelling essays reasoning that they might have once been the same type and diverged over time.
Yes! I couldn't have said it better, from what research I've done myself!
One thing I've made note of is that ice-types have a tendency to have ice as part of their biology. It's not true for all of them, of course, but still a fact that's probably my favorite about the ice type!
by the way! if you're into the genre of blog that is "pretending to be a real person in the Pokémon world," you can check out mine at @honeybushlab!
rb this if youre a trainer or you post about your pokémon or etc
What is Bailey wearing to this years Poke-gala , the theme is legendaries ?
You know, for a moment there I kinda forgot I was invited... 😅
I was actually thinking about Mega Diancie before I remembered it's a mythical - surprise, huh? My specialty is ice but Diancie's mega is just so pretty! - so instead I'm going with Articuno! May as well stick to my specialty, huh?
I was thinking about what social media, Tumblr specifically, would be like in the Pokemon universe. conclusion: not that different
@airyravenmaid @caitas-cooing
What pokemon would you suggest for a system with wildly different needs? Ordona hates touch (gets too hot), Yrsa can't have their neck touched, James and Omen like something cuddly, and Nero wants something he could spar with (but that's not a requirement). We're relatively active but don't go for hikes, and we're in a climate that's got a cold winter and a boiling summer.
Ooh, you know what Pokémon would be a great addition to your home? An Alolan Ninetales!
Despite being part Ice-type, Alolan Ninetales actually do surprisingly well in warm climates, so summers shouldn’t be too big of a problem (though giving your frosty friend a Never Melt Ice certainly wouldn’t hurt) They also tend to be quite adaptable personality-wise as well; they can be very affectionate and cuddly when needed, and more laidback and reserved when not. Sparring may not really be on the cards as this species is typically on the calmer side, but I am sure there are individuals who would be down for a friendly tussle.
Much like their Kantonian cousins, Alolan Ninetales groom themselves fairly frequently, which helps with their grooming requirements. A good brushing two or three times a week should be enough to keep your Ninetales’ fur in peak condition, just be aware that their tail fur, as well as the fur of their mane and head crest, is a bit more susceptible to matting due to the curliness.
Alolan Ninetales are known, at least in Alola, for their gentle temperaments, and are generally safe Pokémon for owners of all experience levels! Overprotectiveness and resource guarding can be issues though, so it’s a good idea to provide your Ninetales with proper training and socialization (ideally as a Vulpix) in order to help prevent those problems from popping up.
As someone who also has an Alolan Ninetails, all of this I can confirm is correct!
I would also suggest getting a scratch pad for your pal. While Ninetails' claws aren't fully retractable like cats' are, they still can retract a bit! It helps in their snowy regions - less claw for snow, more claw for ice! This means that a scratch pad will help them keep those claws healthy.
You should also be aware that during colder times, they can be susceptible to having ice form on their fur when they're outside. This is totally natural - just make sure to have a towel on hand for when they come back in!
One of my favorite spreads I drew for the Morphological Diversity in Pokemon Species Vol 2. zine a while back, featuring my favorite Eeveelutions, Espeon and Umbreon.
The book is out of print now, so I’m formatting my pages for posting so that everyone can enjoy. If you’d like to purchase a digital copy and see all the other great Pokemon variants that other artists came up with, you can do so here.
More to come soon!

What is that?
Oh boy, you get to be one of today's lucky 10,000!!
A pretty popular music creator uploaded this video to MonTube a few years ago:
It's been memed to no end and Lizzy will often team up with Dalton (my Alolan Ninetails) to get it playing on my phone. She enjoys it immensely, and I don't mind much because the little dance she does is hilarious!
Have you ever had a pokemon use the move helping hand on yourself and what for?
Oh plenty of times. Usually it's my Glaceon, Lizzy - she'll use helping hand whenever I need a little extra height or if I'm trying to carry too many things.
There was also one time where we were heading home and it was late, and I'd lost my phone somewhere. Walking for too long puts me in a decent amount of pain, and we'd been going for about three hours at that point. She used helping hand to keep me going until we were safe and could get a ride home. Honestly, I don't know what I would've done without her that night!
What region are you in ?
Thank you for the ask! I live in Unova, but I've been thinking about moving to Sinnoh lately. Haven't decided!
