Leeches are mostly neutral little worm dudes, no need to fear
My hand slipped and I made these bad boys.

The Nest
-Chapter 2: Overslept-
Waking up is seldom a very good feeling. The grogginess of sleep clinging to your mind and the weight of rest begging you to fall back into a restful sleep. The worst way to wake up, however, is being startled awake- even if it’s done gently.
“Dr. Lilith?” The voice was soft but it still made her jump nearly out of bed. Which only was worsened when Lilith caught a sight of the towering person at the foot of her bed- and then in her half-asleep panic she attempted to stand up too fast, became tangled in her sheets and fell over. “Oh goodness are you alright? I apologize for startling you-“ she heard the sound of the soft footfalls moving swiftly to her side and Lilith let out a slightly ragged sigh of relief.
“Gypaetus?” A quick glance up- way up- and she gave the towering doctor a a bedraggled smile. “It’s very good to see you,” she took the hand they offered to help her up, and her brow knit suddenly in confusion. “I expected you first- what with your ease of travel and all- but I knew it would take at least a day or so for the letter to reach you.” Lilith was met with a sheepish smile from the other doctor,
“Well yes, I imagine it did take your crows a while to reach me, but that was...” they pulled out a pocketwatch and checked the time, “nearly nine hours ago.” Lilith went pale and checked nervously.
“Oh lord... I fear I might’ve been heavy handed with my sleeping potion again...” she was adjusting her sleeping clothes awkwardly, cringing internally and steeling herself for the answer to her next question. “Are you the only one here?” Her tone was hopeful, but she didn’t presume too much. Gypaetus shook their head gently, head tilting to the side and eyes apologetic despite their smile.
“I am afraid not. That is the only reason, in fact, I popped in the way I did.” Lilith murmured a few expletives under her breath and walked quickly to her mirror. “I believe it was madame Bubon who proposed to break in, when no one was answering- which was when I stepped in to offer this as an alternative. I hope that was alright.” Nodding at them over her shoulder, Lilith elected that magic was the only approach to make herself presentable quick enough.
“Thank you love- I’ll be out in just a moment.” She said as poised as she could, giving the other doctor a graceful smile. Gypaetus tipped their hat and were simply gone- and the second they blinked from existence Lilith was is panic. “Shit, shit, shit, fuck” She was mumbling chants under her breath, darting through the halls. Her hair, makeup and outfit fell into place as she walked- the lanterns and sconces throughout the manor flicking to light and fires roaring to life in the fireplaces. The click of her heels on the shining stone floors echoed in time with the pounding of her heart in her ears. It felt to her as if she’d taken an hour to get from her room to the grand doors of the foyer, but it had truly been only a moment.
She paused for a moment, her hand on the massive door handle, letting out a deep breath. Lilith knew this was going to be more than she bargained for from the sound of voices outside- but she couldn’t be more excited. With as much drama as she could muster, she threw open the doors.
frankenstein really skipped straight to the 'murder your creator' option instead of trying like. legal emancipation and therapy
and you know what we call that? Valid
it’s EXTREMELY valid i just feel like at some point therapy is easier
The Nest:
I wanted to give you all some better context and understanding of the manor itself as I work of the next chapter.
Here is an approximate blueprint of the main manor house.
So this is the first floor (or ground floor if you’re not from the US). Please tap on the photos for better quality (and to read my tiny cursive). The foyer is one of the most dramatic rooms for sure- the full three stories tall with a nearly two story statue of a plague doctor on the landing of the stairs with massive windows taking up most of the wall behind it. The staircase and landing are extremely large, and the equally large kitchen is entirely below it, still on the first floor. Each one of the “bedrooms” is almost the size of a small apartment. Fully furnished to the taste of each individual doctor.
The second floor! There is no wall between the traditional library and the foyer just a railing. More bedrooms and the “master bedroom” which is Lilith’s. It’s her individual home so she did make it more spcious- in the hopes of having a partner or family, though any one of the individual rooms is more than sufficient to support a couple. The bedrooms that overlook the foyer are on a balcony.
The third floor is very similar, but the library is mostly a “second story” in the sense that it’s extremely tall bookcases with catwalks and platforms with chairs.
As for the grounds around the manor there are as stated previously, an aviary, greenhouse, and several several cabins and guest houses. There are cobblestone paths made out of smooth stones connecting all the cabins to the main house. Each cabin is fully outfitted, furnished and stocked. The cabins are for anyone who wants to be a part of the community without living in the main house. A little more seclusion and privacy for those who want it.
If you want any more details or have specific questions please feel free to comment or send me an ask! 😊

-Chapter 1: Arrival-
“Contra Pestem ac Immortalem Amet”
Hours ticked by agonizingly slowly. Being eternal already provided a warped perception of time, but the waiting magnified the feeling. Lilith took the time to walk through the manor again, plotting out a tour she could give to any doctors who arrived. She’d assigned rooms to certain people, having furnished each room with someone specific in mind. This would not preclude changes or freedoms of choice, to be sure, she just recognized the particular aesthetics and preferences of each doctor she’d hazard to call a friend.
Working her way through the bedrooms alone took time, but not enough yet, so she sorted through the apothecary. It was a bit of a meaningless task, however, as she had kept it meticulously clean and organized. Being around the herbs and ingredients made her feel at peace though, so that solace made the task have merit.
Checking the clock, she let out a groan of annoyance- it had only been 5 hours since she sent out the letters and, if she remembered correctly, the nearest doctor was at least 12 hours away for the crows. Looking at the vials and canisters of herbs, she weighed the merit of making a sleeping draught for herself, just to pass the time. Sleep wasn’t a necessity for her, nor food, but she partook in them with great joy usually. Unfortunately the nerves and excitement were too intense to allow her sleep any time soon. Since the only other idea she had to pass the time was a night hike, which admittedly had gone very poorly the last... 5 times she had done so, she elected that a sleeping potion was the safest bet.
Settling into bed not much later, she uncorked the small potion, hoping that she hadn’t overestimated her ingredients... again. Lilith had a bit of an tendency to be heavy handed when making potions for herself since they did have to be more potent for her demonic anatomy- but this also had the side effect of often knocking her out much longer than intended. Downing the contents of the vial, the syrupy, floral taste made her cringe, but relax into the plush sheets. She set aside the container and turned out the light, falling quickly into a dreamless sleep.
Far from the warmth and comfort of the nest, the murder of crows fanned out and continued on their way to deliver the invitations. They flew in small groups, working together to navigate their way across the vast stretches of land and sea. There was a reason Lilith referred to all of them as her brilliant baby birds after all, and she was absolutely right.
Receiving the letters in the wee hours of the night, brought by a crow no less, was a bit shocking for most of the doctors- though there were a few that she kept contact with enough that the corvids were a common and welcome sight. Or at the very least it was confusing and unusual. While each letter was hand-penned in Lilith’s spidery handwriting and personalized, the letters all followed a similar pattern:
To the esteemed Doctor ____,
Greetings, I hope this letter finds you well. I also hope you remember me, as I have seen fit to deem you one of my colleagues and friends. While this may seem odd, I have a proposition for you: as an ætherial being, I have been around for long enough to plan far in advance for things and thus I have worked for centuries to create a safe have of sorts for those I so long ago deemed most worthy. The plague doctors I have known have always been honorable and just, and it is for that reason I now reach out to you. The world is not a hospitable one for us right now I’m afraid, and I offer an escape where we as doctors may come together. It is not a school per se, though I suppose it is something similar to a university from the 1800s. I think that we all have much to learn from one another, and that the struggles and cures we each seek on our on can be best solved if we work together. The proposition: Come live at my manor. It is remote, safe, well stocked and able to handle any who come. I have been preparing for this for a long time, and I hope you’ll join me. Attached are the exact coordinates of the manor house, as well as some more details about the living arrangements if you’re interested. You’re welcome to visit if you like, but I will assume that no reply or no taken action is a decline to my offer, which I wholeheartedly understand. Take all the time you need in consideration, but know that we would be stronger together.
Contra Pestem ac Immortalem Amet
With love,
Lilith
What she didn’t expect, however, was how many, upon reviving said letter, began packing immediately.

The Nest
-Prologue-
“Contra Pestem ac Immortalem Amet”
Lilith had started construction on her manor around the 1530s. She’d taken advantage of the cheap, secluded land- such a densely forested area, difficult if not impossible to till, and for her it was perfect. Isolated, beautiful and dramatic. The biggest pain had been slowly and meticulously getting the manor built, but it had been worth it. She was forward thinking from the beginning- and extremely patient as the manor wasn’t fully finished until the 1600s. She worked to furnish and stock it over the rest of her life though and never considered it truly done.
80 bedrooms, two fully stocked libraries- one for occult and magical studies, the other for worldly and scientific studies- and accompanying study rooms, several common and living rooms and a massive kitchen among other things. A spacious basement, an apothecary, a room that served as a worship room with several types of altars. A green house, an aviary, and a few guest houses scattered the property as well. It’s was a haven.
She may fly away from time to time, migrating across the world to study and teach, but she would always fly home to her nest- The Nest.
Lilith was a smart fallen angel- she knew very early in her existence on earth that there would always be humans in need of refuge. Now was the time for that refuge.
Round and round the world enough times and Lilith knew it was time. 2020- the newest plague. She drafted and sent her letters out to the doctors she’d met over the centuries. An invitation like this was not one to take lightly- she was asking these doctors to travel to live here permanently. It was a school, a safe house, an agora for the greatest immortal minds and Lilith knew that that idea may not be terribly appealing to everyone she wanted to invite. She hoped the more reclusive doctors may take the offer to live in the private guest houses... but it was no matter.
The final count of personally handwritten, detailed invitations was somewhere in the realm of 200, but Lilith expected at best half of the number to respond, and even fewer to accept. Of course these were not letters any postal service would or even could deliver, but Lilith had a loyal flock of corvids that she’d raised and cared for for centuries- more intelligent and efficient than any carrier pidgeon to be sure. The first letters would likely arrive in a day or two- and with some of the powers the doctors possess that may mean she’d see them in that many days as well.
Curled in front of a massive window, fire crackling in the large hearth behind her, Lilith watched the gently falling snow outside. This plan was hundreds of years in the making, and yet the apprehension ate at her. Would any even come? Was she forever doomed to haunt her own manor? She pushed aside the fear, taking another sip of her tea and letting out a heavy sigh. Whatever would happen, she had done all she could and built a place she loved, and that was enough for now.
relistened to parade day and can confirm this line still hits

Taking time to appreciate the reds and oranges of fall
I’m trying to feed my leeches tonight (with some pork blood) and while we’re waiting for it to heat up Wormitha just folded up and started yawning
What a sleepy bean
They did not munch. Guess I’ll be feeding them off me
Is feeding them painful at all?
Not really. It just sorta feels like pinpricks. They inject a numbing substance after they bite, so you sorta feel the initial bite but not much else after that
The thing that’s annoying is that they inject an anticoagulant too, so the bite bleeds for like 12 hours and it’s a pain in the ass
That’s so super cool! I work with mosquitoes and ticks so I always like to see blood feeding pets!
Can I interest anyone in a small friend and boy
