I used to be over protective of Cali so she wouldn’t hurt herself but taking her out on these walks has made me realise that horses have evolved to walk long distances over uneven terrain and she is far better at judging her footing than I ever will be. Now I let her choose her own path and I think her being able to make her own decisions has made her much more eager to listen to me when it’s really needed and just overall balanced out our relationship
