Day four of the January journal challenge! okay, so these are my five top notebooks. The large white one is for the novel that I’m working on, my planner, my cute new journal, my notepad for lists (minion) and the purple one is for counselling :-)

Someone stop me.
I’ve started on my first bullet journal and so far I love it.
What is a bullet journal?
A bullet journal is an extensive to-do list in a notebook format. It provides a customizable way of rapid logging. Bullet journaling has become quite the cult phenomenon within the studyblr community but it is a very popular method of staying organized.
How do I start bullet journaling?
First of all, you need a notebook with at least 150 pages. The most popular notebook used in bullet journaling is the grid lined Moleskine. There are several alternatives to Moleskine such as Leuchtturm, Piccadilly, Field Notes, and Pantone notebooks. It doesn’t matter what kind of notebook you use, as long as it is small and easily carried. I personally made my own notebook for bullet journaling by binding graph papers.
Setting up a bullet journal
Make a legend. This is the first page of your bullet journal where you create a legend of sorts to follow through out your bullet journaling adventure. My legend is pretty simple: I have a square for every task and designate certain symbols for the tasks; events and appointments are triangles, etc. Make a system that works for you.
Index page. For most traditional bullet journals’, the index or table of contents is the second page. I personally do not have a table of contents.
Monthly/Yearly View. I like to start of each month with a monthly calendar that I can record events such as appointments and test dates. I usually have a quote to accompany the calendar. I set it up very much like a traditional planner.
Designate a day and start creating tasks. As you can see, I designate every day in a ribbon design. I’m a big fan of dashes and ribbons. Within each day, I have a set amount of tasks I want to accomplish. As I complete each task, I cross out the box. If the task becomes irrelevant, I strike it out. If I have partially completed the task for the day, I move the task down to the second day and continue to do so until I have completed the task.
Customize + create a format that works for you. Make your bullet journal more you. Some people go crazy with the washi tape and sticky notes. I love to doodle. Some people have a bar of how much water they drank or how much they slept. Some people draw cronodexes to designate time devisions to each task. Make this bullet journal personal so you are motivated to keep recording in it.

i finished my second journal! i started the black journal on january 5th, 2015, and finished the white journal on january 5th, 2016.
my new year’s resolution for 2015 was to write/create 350 journal entries by the end of the year, and i ended up with 358. this is the first new year’s resolution that i can remember actually completing. these are also the first journals i’ve ever fully completed!
i am pleased.
So many words, so many emotions but where to start? I’ve got a story to tell and my feather pen is going to help me!
