Hi! I post this based on Anon that requesting Painter Of The Night Q&A after chapter 30. Originally this was posted in Korean, but I don’t speak nor understand Korean, and luckily Lezhin Japan got this Q&A translated, I translated it from their Japan page. I hope I translated it in correctly!
Q. Please tell us about the character profile.

Q. What made you decide to write this story at the first place?
I started drawing it since my friend shown me “Shunga” (kind of erotic art: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shunga_(disambiguation)).
This is a comic with such a long preparation, so there’s a lot things that I want to say… in the afterword… (but the completion is still far far away)
Q. What’s the meaning of your pen name?
It has something to do with my capricious personality, so I made it my pen name. I was asked if it was an abbreviation for “perverted nerd”, it is not (cries)
Note: Byeonduck has meaning “capricious” in Korean
Q. What are you listening while drawing POTN?
I’m listening to theme song of historical drama a lot.
I’m trying to bring out the mood (?) of historical drama as much as possible.
Q. Do you have any plans to write the spin-off?
If I have a chance, yes. Like reverse personality or modern alternate universe.
Q. What’s your favorite scene in this story, and what’s the most difficult scene to draw?
I really like the 19th story, “Illusion, Kiss” to the title logo in the 20th story. It has perfect timing break, and a lot of people also like it, so I really like that one.
The difficult one was, scenes in the 20th story and 21st story that comes after the logo title. It was smooth until the logo title, but after that… I had a rough times because of the pressure. I revised the draft countless times.
Q. Do you have any plans to make it into a book?
There is, but now it’s still on going.
Q. Are we never going to see Jihwa anymore?
He’ll coming back soon.
Q. Between Seungho and Inhun, who do you think has the best personality?
So far, I think it’s Seungho.
We can find people like Inhun everywhere, but I think people like Seungho are usually put in prison.
Q. What’s the most fun character or scene to draw?
It’s really fun when I draw scenes that burst emotions, because there’s gotta be a story going on so that you can draw such scene. Particularly, after I started this series, I made up my mind that ‘I have to draw this!’, and now every time I think about it, I get so excited. I really want to show to you soon.
Q. What is the most difficult character to draw?
Inhun.
I knew that drawing eyeglass is really, really, really troublesome…
Everyone got the same hairstyle so I had to draw it, but I have no regrets.

Q. I wonder what’s Nakyum’s pseudonym when he draws Shunga.
Jung Nakyum. It seems that the surname belongs to the master whom he had a crush with.
Note: the Japanese version and Korean version have names and pseudonym opposites.

He was really loved by sisters in Kisaeng house.
Q. What is Nakyum’s favorite food?
Hangwa.
When he was a little, sometimes the sisters shared it with him so thankfully he had an experience to eat it, the first time he ate it a lot was when Jihwa brought it to him.
