Battlefield 4 - Actionable Intelligence: Squad Hopping
Here's an interesting trick I just picked up on that's particularly useful in Conquest mode. When you're looking for a squad member to spawn on, and they're all too far away from your objective, simply look for other teammates that are nearby (blue triangles). Switch squads and then spawn on them. Boom.
Obviously this isn't the best way to play if you're in a great squad that actually employs teamwork. But it's perfect for those matches where you're basically lone-wolfing it.
And that's it.
It's Launch Day!: Got PS4?
Welcome to the Battlefield: Read Your Field Manual, Soldier!
Remember back in the day when video games came with those lil printed manuals telling you how to play the game? Call me a weirdo, call me what you will, but I was one of those chumps that just HAD to read up on the game before playing it. It's been a ritual of mine pretty much since day one. Sadly, those days are coming to an end. No one seems to printing manuals anymore (and EA is one of the worst offenders there).
But, the game manual lives on... in electronic form.
That's good news. Especially in a game as complicated as Battlefield 4. Do yourself a favor, and spend a few minutes to check out the BF4 manual. It's answered a TON of questions for me (for example did you know that certain maps have "secret" weapons hidden on them? Huh? HUH!?), and will put you another step ahead of all those knuckleheads that didn't bother.
Check it out: https://help.ea.com/article/battlefield-4-manuals
Now, can I get a "sir, yes sir!"?
Until next time, bla bla bliggity bla...
Welcome to the Battlefield: How to be an Effective Commander
C'mon, sing it with me now: "Be all that you can be..." you know what, nevermind.
So I spent some quality time with Battlefield 4 this past weekend, and things are starting to click and fall into place. Not only am I improving, but I'm also having a great time with this new game. Just last night I started experimenting with the Commander Mode, and I gotta say, it's pretty bad ass.
What is Commander Mode?
Battlefield is a tactical game that requires genuine teamwork in order to succeed. And really, what is a team without a leader (or in my case, a super genius MASTERMIND! Mwahaha!!!)? Enter the Commander.
Basically as a Commander you can oversee the entire battlefield from a top down perspective, and help your team with guidance and support (Oh yeah, and you can reign death and destruction upon your poor noobish enemies with some well placed missiles and gunships. Hehehe).
It's pretty awesome, and can really make the difference between victory and defeat in those close matches. Up to the challenge? Go for it. Just keep in mind that your squad leaders can hit the eject button on your sorry ass if you do a bad job.
How do I become the Commander?
First you have to get together a briefcase with small unmarked bills in US denominations and... okay FINE. All you have to do is volunteer, really. From the in-game spawn/re-spawn screen, go to team setup and then tab over to the Commander screen. If there's no Commander, then you can jump right on in. No problemo.
I believe you have to be level 10 and this mode is only available on Conquest, Obliteration, and Rush.
Cool... But what do all these buttons do?
You know, I could explain it, but this video pretty much walks you through what you need to know, so sit back and check it out...
This page might help you out too.
Or, you could do what I did, and fumble around for an hour or so saying "hmm... what does this button do..." Either way, you're welcome.
Okay, fun and games aside, it's Veterans day here in the USA, so I want to give a big thank you to all you veterans out there past, present, and future. You rock!
Alright, until next time, see you on the battlefield...
Welcome to the Battlefield: New Cover System Explained
Let's just get this out of the way right now. I'm not a Battlefield guy. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty terrible at the game. Most of my FPS experience comes from Call of Duty. That said, I'm pretty hyped about Battlefield 4, and am looking forward to the challenge of learning the new game.
I gotta say, mediocrity just isn't my style. And so for the past week or so, I've been learning. I know alot of you out there are in the same situation as me (yeah, I'm looking at you Call of Duty noob), so I'm going to use my place here on the internets to help share what I learn, as I learn it.
Let's start with some basics shall we? Here's something you may not know yet. Apparently Battlefield 4 has a cover system. I tried it myself last night, and it kicks massive quantities of... well nevermind that. Here's a short video explaining everything...
Pretty cool, huh? Now go out there and try it in the game. Let me know how it works for you in the comments section.
I got some other tips I want to share, but I'll leave it at this for now. If you have some tips of your own, go ahead and send 'em my way (don't worry, I'll be sure to take full credit). Until next time, see you noobs on the battlefield.
I remember playing this game with my nephew way back when it first came out, and this song in particular brings back those old memories (only he will know why). It's not the best song in the world, or even the best song in this game. But it always brings a smile to my face.
This one's for you James!
Metal Gear Solid V
My life now has a new meaning... it's called Metal Gear Solid V (you're welcome)...
Anyone else have a massive nerd boner?
Black Ops 2: Using the Black Hat
The Black Hat is easily the most underused and under-appreciated piece of equipment in Black Ops 2. It's also the most useful. Here's a list of what you can do with this little piece of awesomeness:
Hack enemy equipment (claymores, bouncing betties, shock charges, etc).
Take down enemy air support (Though it takes more than 1 for drones and choppers).
Take care packages (yours, your teams, and your enemies). This can be useful if you throw your care package out of the map, and then use the Black Hat to capture it.
Hack enemy care packages.
Don't believe me? Check out these videos...
Guess what I'll be doing this weekend...
Alright, it's time for another classic video game song, and this one really brings back some memories for me: God Bless All the Universe, from Grand Theft Auto 2.
Is there anything more hilarious than listening to religious music while driving around in a stolen car and running over random pedestrians? Nah, didn't think so. My nephew, Daniel is actually the one that brought this to my attention. I had never really played the GTA games before, but he got me hooked on part 2 (and I've been a fan ever since).
One of his favorite things to do in the game was to cause as much havoc as possible while this song played on the radio. I have to admit, it was pretty damn fun. Hope you enjoy the song.
Black Ops 2: Pro Tip of the Day - How to Tell if Ghost is Working
There seems to be alot of confusion regarding the Ghost perk in Black Ops 2. As we all know by now, Ghost only works if you are moving. But how do you know what type of movement actually keeps you off the radar? Check this out:
Pretty cool, huh? So basically for those of you that are working or at school or whatever and can't watch the video, it breaks down like this: Pay attention to the mini map in the upper left corner of the screen. If you are eligible to appear on the radar, then you will show up as a bright yellow triangle. If you are in fact invisible on the radar, then you will show up as a faded yellow triangle.
So now you know. And knowing.... it's half of the mutha$%@&in' battle my friend (the other half is blowing $#!& up).
Black Ops 2: Pro Tip of the Day - Unlock Token
It's no secret that the single most used scorestreak in the game is UAV. And why not? It helps the entire team and is very easy to acquire. Because of this, Ghost is even more important in Black Ops 2 than it was in the previous titles. That's why the best thing you can do when you prestige is use your unlock token on Ghost. This way, Ghost will be permanently unlocked, and you'll always have a go-to class setup to avoid detection.
Special thanks to my teammate for pointing this out to me. I still haven't prestiged yet, but when I do, I will definitely be taking this advice.
Black Ops 2: Nuketown 2025 is Back!
Well, that didn't last long. Yesterday I posted that the Nuketown 2025 24/7 playlist was removed, taking with it one of the most fun maps in the game. Well, the people have spoken. We want Nuketown back, bastards! And Treyarch has graciously listened.
Apparently, Nuketown 2025 is available in a new playlist called Chaos Moshpit. Check out the fool details on the Kotaku website.
Black Ops 2: Nuketown 2025 (24/7) Map Gone!?
So apparently some genius at Treyarch / Activision has decided to disable the Nuketown 2025 24/7 playlist. What's up with that? That map was awesome. Worse yet, according to this article on Kotaku, it seems to be an intentional move.
Sadly, it looks like it will only be available during double xp weekends. Hopefully the map is still in rotation for other playlist, but if so I have yet to see it. What about you? Have you played, or even seen, Nuketown 2025 appear in one of the other playlists?
Now is the time to choose. Die and be free of your pain, or live and fight your sorrow.

Black Ops 2: Weapon Statistics
It's still early in the game and we're all looking for ways to improve. The good news is that some other guy has taken it upon himself to do the hard work so the rest of us lazy gamers don't have to. Check out this link and enjoy some in-depth weapon break downs. Enjoy it now before an inevitable patch renders it obsolete.
