Welcome to the Battlefield: How to be an Effective Commander
C'mon, sing it with me now: "Be all that you can be..." you know what, nevermind.
So I spent some quality time with Battlefield 4 this past weekend, and things are starting to click and fall into place. Not only am I improving, but I'm also having a great time with this new game. Just last night I started experimenting with the Commander Mode, and I gotta say, it's pretty bad ass.
Battlefield is a tactical game that requires genuine teamwork in order to succeed. And really, what is a team without a leader (or in my case, a super genius MASTERMIND! Mwahaha!!!)? Enter the Commander.
Basically as a Commander you can oversee the entire battlefield from a top down perspective, and help your team with guidance and support (Oh yeah, and you can reign death and destruction upon your poor noobish enemies with some well placed missiles and gunships. Hehehe).
It's pretty awesome, and can really make the difference between victory and defeat in those close matches. Up to the challenge? Go for it. Just keep in mind that your squad leaders can hit the eject button on your sorry ass if you do a bad job.
How do I become the Commander?
First you have to get together a briefcase with small unmarked bills in US denominations and... okay FINE. All you have to do is volunteer, really. From the in-game spawn/re-spawn screen, go to team setup and then tab over to the Commander screen. If there's no Commander, then you can jump right on in. No problemo.
I believe you have to be level 10 and this mode is only available on Conquest, Obliteration, and Rush.
Cool... But what do all these buttons do?
You know, I could explain it, but this video pretty much walks you through what you need to know, so sit back and check it out...
This page might help you out too.
Or, you could do what I did, and fumble around for an hour or so saying "hmm... what does this button do..." Either way, you're welcome.
Okay, fun and games aside, it's Veterans day here in the USA, so I want to give a big thank you to all you veterans out there past, present, and future. You rock!
Alright, until next time, see you on the battlefield...
