[CLICHÉS REPLAYED | WEEK 2] . This cliché sounds very much like, "Let time go by and it'll all be better." . However, time has never healed anything. Compounded time can actually make a thing worse, especially an unresolved thing. . However, what time does is offer the space and opportunity to make a decision. And that decision is whether or not we'd like to get over a thing/person, or move past a thing/person, or heal from a thing/person. . There once was a question that asked, "After a break-up, what is the quickest way to get over someone?" And several answers went up from "Just be alone" to "Hurt them back" to even "Get under someone else" 🙈. But the healthiest answer is "decide to." You have to decide to get past something or heal from something and that decision is the starting point and the fastest way to do so. Because even if you decide not to, or stand in indecision, time is still ticking. Time heals nothing. The decision to heal and then the process of healing is what heals. . ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ . There are plenty of phrases that we all hate, or we all hear over and over, or we all commonly ignore or misconstrue. Communication is a hybrid for "Common-Unification." So it's taking one party's views and beliefs, meshing them with the views and beliefs of another party (or other parties), and allowing them (which will almost never be exactly the same) to coexist by way of the COMMON elements that exist. Which means that healthy communication takes just as much listening as it does speaking. Terms like Commonwealth or even Woodbury Commons are rooted in the idea of shared views/desires even in the midst of whatever differences may exist. As we continue to Build and Better our Relationships, be they familial, platonic, romantic, business, or otherwise, let's ignore what we typically think of when hearing "Communication is key" but remix or replay it to the tune of what it is truly supposed to mean.
