Seeing other queer people fall into the misogynistic and lesbophobic hate campaign against Chappell Roan is so infuriating to me. Even more infuriating is other black queers using Doechii as their scapegoat to fall back on and using Chappell's whiteness as an umbrella to hide their prejudices.
Yes, Doechii was hated for not liking cats and some weird shit about umbrellas, but are you really going to look me in the eye and say with your full chest that Chappell has had it easy since going mainstream??? The moment Chappell called out how the paparazzi was treating her has been the moment that unnecessary hate has been spewed towards her ever since. The hate has increased ever since she left her talent agency due to the ceo being involved with Epstein. Yes, black women are caller aggressive for the smallest things, but to use that to regurgitate harmful rhetoric against another minority group doesn't make it any better. How do you think this affect black lesbians?? Do you really think the same group defending Chappell are the same as the ones hating on Doechii?? Cause I guarantee you the other people you're supporting for hating on Chappell were the same ones being anti-black and biphobic (now lesbophobic) to Doechii.
This whole situation is fucking stupid. The mother of the child involded herself said she didn't know if Chappell noticed them, and yet somehow this turned into "Chappell ABUSED a child." A child that she didn't even notice. The security guard wasn't even apart of her team.
Bringing up whiteness when all parties involved are white rich people, yet you somehow have more anger towards the lesbian and not the millionaire cishets who have a history of harassing folks? And I'm supposed to believe everything is being argued in good faith???
You don't have to like Chappell as a person, or even like her music, but you do have to recognize and call out the prejudices at play when people speak on her. Especially as another queer person, a queer woman at that. Ignoring it or feeding into does not help anyone, ESPECIALLY people who are apart of a multitude of minority groups such as black lesbians.
