L's eyes widened in surprise as Sayu pushed him against the wall and kissed him. Although his natural instincts was to stir away from any kind of physical contact, he couldn't help himself as he returned this kiss, placing his hands on her hips as he did so.

I think some people fail to realise just how much effort and time it was to avenge L.

[ooc;] So I am going into a mini rant here.  I am sick of people hating on Near’s character because he seems heartless or he took over as the new L or whatever.  Putting aside his temperament and observing him strictly as a detective, he is a pure genius and almost a copy of L. He thinks just like him and was able to deduce what each person would do.  He knew Mello well enough to know just what he would do and predicted what Teru would do along with Light.  The kid not only was able to solve the kira case and admitted he could have never done it without Mello but in the one shot three years later he is seen eating a chocolate bar.  Why?  Because he cared about Mello.  He may not have shown his emotions but he cared.  He cared about finding Kira, not just for the game but for L too.

Mun if you were choosing between Mello and Near to be L's successor who would you pick?

If I was choosing between Mello and Near... I'd honestly couldn't decide. Mello has flaws, obviously, but so does Near. I don't blame L for not picking one, and allowing them to sort itself out.

I think I'd choose Mello. He can learn to behave. Besides.. if he suddenly died from eating too much chocolate, I think Near would totally be willing to take over.
