How I make hair for The Sims 4 (blender tutorial)

this video shows how i make hair from scratch for the sims 4, using the curves method, in blender 4.3!

this took some weeks; first recording, then editing and doing some extra voice overs, and finally gathering enough courage to actually post it. i'm not gonna lie, i feel really vulnerable sharing it... with my weird voice, weird accent, failing blender terminology, gramma mistakes etc. so for now the video is only accessible via sharing this link, because simblr is just where i feel most comfortable. i might make it fully public later on. until then, it's for simblr eyes only <33

this tutorial uses:

blender 4.3

sims4studio (1.4.5.5)

adobe photoshop (optional, for step 15) you'll also need an adobe photoshop DDS plugin! download for mac | download for pc

important! you will need your own hair textures. i've uploaded 24 of my own swatches (to cover all of EA's colors) as well as a normal and specular map. feel free to use and recolor but if you make a hair for sharing and you use my texture, please credit me! DOWNLOAD (google drive)

also, the tutorial will not show you how to download and install sims4studio and blender 4.3 so make sure you already have these two programs installed.

especially recommended if you're using blender 2.79 or older

this mod adds a new romantic interaction: "intimate lap kiss". it becomes available when two sims are sitting close to each other.

base game compatible requires the xml injector

by default, the animation depends on the actor's gender: - if the actor is a female sim, she will sit on the other sim's lap. - if the actor is a male sim, he will pull the other sim onto his lap. if you want to change this, use my other mod.

it works similarly to the in-game "make out" interaction and has comparable outcomes.

the interaction is available when sims are sitting close to each other on: - sofas; - benches; - ottomans; - double and single beds, except murphy beds; - pool edges.

you can find it in the 'romance' category -> 'physical intimacy'. sims must have already had their first kiss. the interaction lasts around 25–30 in-game minutes.

there is a 40% chance that both sims will receive the following buff:

the chance is higher if your sims have the steamy romance dynamic, or if they find each other attractive or very attractive (ep 'lovestruck').

HI<3 i'm giving you 6 new hairs because i'm a bit insane and while i had at least 4 more styles i wanted to add to this pack i needed to stop myself at some point. the hairs in this pack are inspired by certain musicians who tend to have eternally greasy hair. great. And since two of the hairs are directly inspired by elias rønnenfelt i named most of the hairs and the hair pack after iceage songs and they have cool song titles, so... um go listen to the lord's favorite or something, it gets you in the mood, and baby elias' big, annoying ego actually makes sense for his age back then...

In fact, the weights on simony was done by posies, hence simony's obvious weight-superiority compared to the others. but you'll see the others also have something going for them. i'm just, you know, taking baby steps...

all sides previews:

*collapse, ecstasy, vendetta, and widow are made on masc frame and beyondless and simony are made on femme frame. i enable them for both frames cuz they look good on both but have in mind the femme frame hairs might clip on masc frame's bodies because they're generally bigger!
