Jubba: Grow’in Atkinson Sculpt and Models
We recently collaborated with event producers Jubba on a launch for the new Rowan Atkinson series on Netflix – Man vs Bee. We were tasked with creating life-size sculptures, entitled “Grow’in Atkinson”.
The idea behind the brief was to create hyper-realistic Rowan Atkinson models that would attract bees. Our initial aim was to promote the new series. However, both Netflix and Jubba also wanted to highlight the plight of British Bees and the shortage of available wildflower nectar. Working closely with The British Bee Charity, the idea was to encourage people to plant wildflowers to support UK bees.
Halloween: Spine-Chilling Props & Costumes
With Halloween just around the corner, what spine-chilling props and costumes will you be making?
Our team of designers and makers take special delight in the weird and wonderful. So projects that verge on the ever so spooky side of Halloween are right up our street. And whilst most people think that Halloween is mostly about costumes, we’re here to show you that installations and props can provide that extra fright effect.
Coatsink: Pixel Stick Man, The Last Hero of Nostalgaia
Are you the last hero and final hope to save “Nostalgaia“?
Last December Coatsink approached us to create a collapsable, human sized pixel stick man. This was for the launch of the new game “The Last Hero of Nostalgaia” by Over the Moon Inc. If you haven’t seen it already, the game is a satirical action-adventure that sees its players fight to save the world of video games from a mysterious pixelated oblivion.
Our designers stayed true to the clients concept graphics in order to re-create the Pixel Stick Man in all his pixelated glory.
Employing aluminium tube connectors, our makers used grub screws to ensure Pixel Stick Man was robust. We needed to make sure he could withstand being taken apart and put back together multiple times. Our team then artworked the aluminium black, whilst also creating his “pixels” using polystyrene. The polystyrene was then also CNC’d and artworked, ensuring the pixelated effect.
Pride 2022: Props, Costumes & Glitter
Brighton Pride, with all its props and costumes, is widely established as the UK’s most popular Pride event.
It’s a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship. It’s all about being proud of who you are and recognising the unique diversity of our city. And as the years go by the celebrations have grown bigger, bolder and well… more proud!
With less than 11 weeks until the festivities start, we’re reminiscing over some of our more colourful and flamboyant projects. From costumes to props, and decorative floats, our team have created a multitude of Pride and Pride influenced projects.
007 James Bond: 60th Anniversary Props
2022 is the 60th Anniversary since the first 007 James Bond movie graced our screens.
Our team here at Plunge Creations have created many Bond themed props and installations over the years. From giant martini glasses and giant cocktail shakers, to a replica Aston Martin. But some of our greatest Bond makes were for our client SpyScape in 2019, all from the movie Goldfinger.
The brief from SpyScape entailed creating replicas of a number of items from Goldfinger. Our creatives were able to replicate the original radar design from the film, including dials, counters and gauges. We also ensured that the radar was fitted with LED lighting and a bracket to attach it to a flat desk. Another item we replicated was the aluminium number plates. We custom machined and hand finished these plates to ensure the perfect 007 Bond finish.
The other two items we created for the SpyScape exhibition were the oil spill mechanism and the ejector seat mechanism. Both of these props called for skilled engineering from our designers and makers. In order to get exact replications, we were able to use the original plans to create flat lays of the internal mechanisms. Our team then created around the internals to fabricate the outer layers.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee: Innovative Celebration Props
As 2022 is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year, we want to re-share with you some of the innovative props we have designed.
Over the years we have been commissioned to fabricate a number of “Royal” themed props and installations. If you’re in need of ideas for how to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, take a look below.

Six The Musical: The Anne Boleyn Costumes
Six the Musical tells the story of Henry VIII’s wives – how they competed to be crowned Queen and how they survived under the hands of the patriarchy of the time. When this hit musical arrived in the UK, we were approached to create one of the “Six” costumes – the Anne Boleyn. Our team of creatives were tasked with creating 2 edits of a costume that would symbolise the strength of the woman wearing it.
